Black Sabbath/Dio Years/Heaven & Hell 6/11/07 Glasgow
I don't know where to start...it was great to have Ronnie back in Scotland,he never forgets his Scottish fans and I thank him for that...the sound quality at the Glasgow gig was flawlessness, the energy of the band and power of Ronnie's voice made this a night that will go down as a ''classic''performance at times it was simply beauiful to the ears, there was many great moments during the concert but for me real highpoint of the night was hearing 'Falling Off The Edge Of The World',it was breathtaking, now if you have ever been to a concert in Glasgow then you will understand the noise from the audience! And Glasgow made plenty of noise during Heaven and Heaven,Children of the Sea and The Mob Rules...The backdrop for the concert was bloody good and the effects really worked and I will not spoil it for you guys still waiting to see Heaven and Hell,Vinny's drum solo was like a roar and crack of thunder...it was like cruelty to drums..the speed and the way he hit his drumkit but great to watch.Tony played like you would expect ...his playing giving a freshness to the classic riffs of Sabbath songs,Geezer bass and sound was just amazing this was heaven.Pele once said "Football? It's the beautiful game"After seeing these legends last night...I think Pele's quote is right to define these Grand Masters of Heavy Metal.Fantastic!!! |

Nice review What did you think of the support acts? _________________ If I speak at one constant volume. at one constant pitch. at one constant rhythm.

I've seen the RCMH DVD and various bootlegs, and H and H delivered and some. I enjoyed the stuff that they hadn't done previously. The little things, like Dio singing with Tony's solo on "I" or Geezer's bass solo during the H and H break down. Also, Dio took an insane vocal solo after Voodoo!
I think the only draw backs were the supports and the sound quality. I think the SECC as a music venue is pretty shoddy, and is more suited to conventions and floor shows. I felt a bit ashamed about the audience turn out as well. I would say it was less than half full. I've been there when it's been full (Tenacious D, 2006 oh the injustice!), and the crowd sing along effect is great. Also, there were the absolute n00bs shouting for "Paranoid" and the like. Lamb of God were okay, although with that kind of music you can't really hear notes, just constant shred and non-stop chords. I really was not up for the 'circle of death' that the vocalist asked for after "Redneck". I'm glad LoG weren't so well represented by the fans, else there would have been carnage what with most of the people wanting to see H and H. If I remember the quote, Lamb of God show you what they can do, Heaven and Hell shows you how it's done.
My favourite songs were - and these were ones I didn't expect to like the most - Sign of the Southern Cross and Children of the Sea. Overall, the show rocked the house. I also got myself two of Tony's plectrums. Btw, Holymagica, do you remember Vinny's flashing drum sticks? Did you get backstage?? _________________
