That is the question. Smile I love this song but I've only seen it performed by Rainbow with Doogie White on vocals..

No, Rainbow with Dio never performed "Temple Of The King".
On some tours, DIO (as the own band of Ronnie James Dio) played some verses of the song, but never on its entirity.

Thatīs the point:Why not a tour with all the Rainbow songs that never performed live?!
Craig Goldy would fit perfect!

Why not do a one off tour with Ritchie, and play all the "Rainbow: Dio era" favourites ..?

But off course that will never happen...

So yes, why not, Dio do a "The Rainbow Years" tour...

Setlist of my dreams:

Tarot Woman
Black Sheep Of The Family
LA Connection
Do You Close Your Eyes
Catch The Rainbow
Starstruck
Kill The King
Self Portrait
Long Live Rock'n'Roll
A Light In The Black
16th Century Greensleeves
Rainbow Eyes
Man On The Silver Mountain

Encore:
Gates Of Babylon
Stargazer
Temple Of The King

hmmm... I read somewhere that the second Rainbow cast (Blackmore, Dio, Carey, Bain, Powell) played The Temple Of The King some times during the first tour but they got it out of the set list very soon...

But I can't be sure about the truth of this Rolling Eyes

Oh boy why Gates and Stargazer in the Encore?... Very Happy It's a killer encore, but I doubt any band would put such strong and difficult songs at the end!

I think I found one of the shows where Temple of the King was performed partly... It's last year's concert in Kavarna, Bulgaria.

Is there any specific reason that the Temple Of The King was never performed live?

I mean, is strange, isn't it ?

And also Gates Of Babylon was never performed live with RJD behind the microphone

It's because Ritchie was so up himself he thought that gigs were basically just a plateau for showboating the bands' abilities instead of letting the fans hear the songs they wanted to hear. That's why out of almost 30 songs they only ever played about 8.

If you want to see Temple Of The King performed live then check out Axel Rudi Pell, a brilliant german guitar player....

I would like to see Ronnie team up with him as I feel Pell's playing would suit Dio well... But if two such big ego's can get along well , that may be another question.....
