I know alot of people have different opinions on this excellent drummer and my question is this:

Was Appice better in Sabbath then or Heaven & Hell now?

See for me something about his drumming live in Sabbath in the '80's didn't immediately click for me. It was good but nothing special, I found him to be better on the album.

However, my opinion on him changed in the Dio band where he sounds like a completely different and superior drummer and from Holy Diver onwards had my support and full respect.

Which is why when I listen to and watch the Radio City gig, the songs sound so much better in the drums department - Big Vin's style seems to have improved so much and his performance on the new tracks is simply awsome.

I wouldn't have anyone else behind the drums in H&H and I'm glad Bill Ward backed out, I mean bringing him in seemed illogical to me anyhow so my question is was Big Vin better in Sabbath or H&H and why.

I think someone can say that there is also a difference in his performance from the Mob Rules and the Dehumanizer. (I think in Heaven & Hell was Ward, right?)

I voted that he is better in the Heaven & Hell as i consider this line up and their songs, like a different band from the 70s Black Sabbath.
(Don't misjudge me, i am not that expert in criticizing the music of the Gods Smile )

A live interview with legendary drummer Vinny Appice (DIO, HEAVEN AND HELL, BLACK SABBATH, BIG NOIZE) will air on "The Vault of Metal" tomorrow (Wednesday, January 23) beginning at around 3:00 p.m. EST.

To llsten to the program live on the Internet, go to this location: http://www.thevaultofmetal.com/

As previously reported, Vinny recently confirmed that the songwriting sessions for the new album from HEAVEN AND HELL — the band featuring Appice alongside vocalist Ronnie James Dio, bassist Geezer Butler and guitarist Tony Iommi — will begin in April 2008.

Rumor has it that HEAVEN AND HELL and JUDAS PRIEST will be joining forces for a summer tour. It should be noted, however, that this information has not yet been confirmed by an official source and should be considered a rumor only.

Vinny will play some dates with BIG NOIZE — the new supergroup featuring Appice with vocalist Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), guitarist Carlos Cavazo (QUIET RIOT), and bassist Phil Soussan (OZZY OSBOURNE, BILLY IDOL).

No disrespect to Appice, but the nick name Big Vin belongs to Vinnie Paul from Pantera, and is also the name of his Record label - Big Vin Records

Vinnie is electrifying with Dio. He has a strange timing coming coming in and out of rolls, which sometimes sounds odd, but it's that tension that makes his drumming so damn good with metal music.

I like him best with Sabbath... but he's great everywhere... I'm psyched about the Big Noize supergroup (Phil Soussan / Carlos Cavazo / Joe Lynn Turner / Vinny Appice) that plays all the classic tunes that these guys were involved in creating/playing with the original bands i.e. Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Quiet Riot etc...

I just saw on Blabbermouth that for the Big Noize show in PA later this month, this band called Hole in the Sky is opening up - they do an acoustic tribute to Black Sabbath (the older 70s material) - also a cool idea, very unique with a chick singer... should be real interesting, I checked out their myspace - http://www.myspace.com/acousticsabbath
