Friday August 24th 2007, My wife called me at work and told me she had tickets for this Concert in Cleveland. The show featured Hinder, Papa Roche, and Buck Cherry. It sounded like a cool night out so I was glad she wanted to go. When we got there i was surprised that the turnout wasnt that great. We had just seen Heaven and Hell at the same venue a couple of months ago and it was packed. I guess I just thought that three bands with current radio material would do well.

My wife loves Buck Cherry, so we moved to center stage about three rows back. We sat there and waited for the show to start. Then I got a real treat. There was an opening band. They came out and sounded pretty good. It reminded me of those concerts years ago when the opening band was on their way up the ladder and you got to see them before they took the world by storm. The Name of the band was Revelation Theory. I had never heard of them, but I will be buying their CD on payday this week. It was just good ole aggressive metal. http://www.revelationtheory.com/home.aspx

Buck Cherry then came on and They were Okay. My wife loved them, but she knew all their songs, and lyrics. I on the other hand didnt and thought the sound was crappy. I couldnt understand a word coming out of the guys mouth. I understood the three songs that Ive heard on the radio, but that was it. The guy was a good performer, but he just looked like a Dick, all into himself. It was a real turn off. I expected a little more light hearted attitude from a guy that rights novelty songs about crazy bitches and cocaine, but he just had this pissed off look on his face the whole show.

Papa Roche However, was great. They just looked like a band that was having a good time. The singer worked the crowd well, and I recognized most of their set from the radio over the past ten years or so. The crowd was putty in their hands. They went crazy. What I really like about them is that their material is not Novelty or Fluff. Its about real emotions and pain. I'm not really into the Rap/Metal that the bands originally consisted of, but the fact that they saw that genre dying and changed to a more vocal format, is definately a respectable move on their part. I would go see them again.

Hinder, what a waste. They just sucked. The singer seemed to have trouble all night, like he was lossing his voice. and again the sound was so bad you couldnt understand anything he was singing anyway. The topper was that theywere the main act. They dont have enough material to fill that position, so they did a cover of Born To Be Wild. That song was old twenty years ago. Why would anyone think todays crowd would want to hear that? I laughed my ass off. The only thing that made it okay was the singer from Papa Roche running out to sing along. We left befor they were finished.

So My assesment is this. Papa Roche and Revelation Theory: Good
Buck Cherry: Just Okay
Hinder: Lame
