I am not saying Dio the band is finished but Ronnie has in the past stated that he thought Sabbath would be the band he would retire with. That was said eons ago when questions were asked about then said Sabbath break ups.

As it is unknown when Dio will go the way of Sinatra time is limited for any new releases for Dio the band.

This year will see the release of a Heaven and Hell album that will more than likely have a follow up supporting tour. As we were initially told that Heaven and Hell was just going to be a summer festival thing it turned out to be a full blown world tour. I do not see less of that happening for a full length Heaven and Hell album.

If Dio the band is working on a new album then what are the realistic chances of it being released this year? And especially with no tour for it since Ronnie will be with Heaven and Hell. It is even more unlikely that both bands will tour together as this would put the most burden on Ronnie's voice.

We as well have no idea what will happen at the end of that tour as well. At the end of the next Heaven and Hell album tour we could see yet another album made. They have lasted for two studio albums before and they are older than they were the last two times they broke up. It could just be that they do finally have those priorities as this band unit in order.

Ozzy I seriously doubt will ever put the time needed to make a new Sabbath album. I think the ship has sailed on that one. He has strung them along for 10 years now. We could have had minimally two Sabbath studio albums with him by now so the other Sabbath members who are doing Heaven and Hell could very well love what they are doing now and all could have their shit in check this time.

As for Rainbow, I think they were on the same Ozzy ship. Cozy is gone and Blackmore has no desire to do one. If he does again it will be with a later Rainbow lineup since he will want to make money at it and go for the lineups that were more commercially successful.

This is the third 4 year gap in Ronnie putting out a studio LP for Dio the band. We had a two year gap between Sacred Heart and Dream Evil then a 3 year gap between Dream Evil and LOTWs. He then did a sabbath reunion so we had the first of the three 4 year gaps till Strange Highways. The second 4 year gap came from Angry Machines till Magica then we saw him put out a studio LP every two years for three albums.

I have enjoyed everything he has put out and have a lot to still enjoy if he never does again. My only disappointment was that we did not get a studio release in 2006. We instead got the Holy Diver Live CD to which he had spent that time previously touring as that. As the concept was liked by many it was my disappointment that we did not get a studio LP instead and now looking at the Heaven and Hell in retrospect to which I enjoy as well none the less all around would had been satisfied fully if a studio LP had been released in 2006 The Heaven and Hell project would had just flowed instead of putting what appears to be a stop to Dio the band for at least the moment.

I have enjoyed the Heaven And Hell renaissance (a version of Black Sabbath which, frankly, I prefer to the Ozzy-fronted one). I have also in the last year rediscovered how much I enjoy Dio's catalogue. Hopefully there will be another Dio album sometime in the not-too-distant future. By the way, I'm unfamiliar with Dio's post-2000 work; which CD would you recommend getting first; Magica, Killing The Dragon, or Master Of The Moon?

I'd rather see a Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell album then a second Magica
I didn't much care for Magica TBH
concept albums usually bore me
(except Thick as a Brick) Smile

I would recomend killing the dragon. The songs on ktd are more upbeat and faster and the guitarist he had Doug Aldrich is a fantastic player reminds alot of vivian cambelle.

Thanks, Corey; I heard Holy Diver Live and was impressed by Aldrich. Incidentally, I also really enjoyed the live versions of older songs like "Tarot Woman" and "Gates Of Babylon". I'll check out Killing The Dragon.
