Absoloutely brilliant....pure class The best tracks would have to be In The Presence Of Enemies Pt1, Constant Motion and Prophets Of War but it's all great. Forsaken and Ministry Of Lost Souls are really good too. I like it more than Awake but it isn't quite as good as Images and Words or Metropolis Pt2.
What do you think? |

I like it very much, my favorite songs are In the presence of enemies pt1 and 2 and Constant Motion.
it's a great album, but not Dream theater's best I think. I also like it better then Awake. But it's very different from Images And Words and scenes from a memory, I can't really say which one is the best.
And what do you think of Repentence? I don't mind a ballad, but I must say that song is kinda boring. But it's the only song that is boring. _________________ You're Breathless, ready to burn

| Rather than boring I'd say it kind of drifts over you after a while bevause it isn't too active. I quite like it though but would probably have to say it's the weakest on the album. One thing I didn't like was the pairing of Constant Motion and The Drak Eternal Night. They're a little too similar. |

Well, I agree with you about Repentance, when I really listen to the song, I can enjoy it a bit. But I do think that IX Restitution (those talking voices) is too long.
And you're right about Constant Motion and The Drak Eternal Night, the haviest songs of the album. _________________ You're Breathless, ready to burn

| Hope you have a great time. It's a shame it isn't an "evening with...." tour. Just a two hour set I think. I hope that one of the shows with I&W in its entirety is released on YTSE Jam records next year if they don't release an official DVD. |

However, in order for the book to be published before Christmas, we need to hit a certain level of pre-orders. Currently this is around the 2000 copies mark. Indeed anything significantly less than this, and the project may well need to be adapted due to the high costs involved in producing a book of this type. Rather than ask people to part with their money at this stage, you can now register your interest in pre-ordering the book by entering your name and e-mail address. The benefit of this is that you will be the first to know when the ordering process begins (hopefully in two to three weeks time) and will be able to guarantee yourself a copy. We will e-mail you as soon as this ordering process is available. We hope that we will be able to have the books in our warehouse and ready for shipping before Christmas.
It is imperative therefore that you register as soon as possible if you want to buy the book, as if the number of people registering is far less than the 2000 mark, the project may be in doubt. Obviously please only register once, as we will be basing the print run on the number of registrations. However well intentioned, if we get a load of dud registrations, we will just be left with a huge bill and a load of books that will get pulped. But please feel to register twice if you plan to buy a couple of books!

After 20 years of recording , Dream Theater will release their first "best of" collection under the very interesting title "Greatest Hit & 19 Other Pretty Cool Songs"!!

There were rumours a while back about a best of. It's about time, I mean they could easily fill four discs with the amount they've done. Plus it might boost their popularity since it'll be a lot more accessable presumably. And I love the title |

My take on Dream Theater's newest studio album: at the beginning I was disappointed: fantastic musicanship, but the real Dream is somewhere in another galaxy I suppose: I said to myself: it takes time. But I've been bitterly disappointed ever since. This album is just not what I expected:
Octavarium is the first album where there are signs that the guys just missed the point.
And Systematic Chaos? Well, this album has no direction, it just floats, but doesn't take you anywhere it is supposed to.
This Muse oriented flirting... Come on, give me a break. Can you imagine Led Zepp playing like Rainbow back in the 70's?
Also: Portnoy may be a brilliant drummer, but an amazing vocalist HE IS NOT. Too much Portnoy, simple as that. I know he's the owner of this particular theater, but again: his influence on the rest of the guys is not the best solution as far as I am concerned.
One other note: LaBrie is not getting ever younger. He is good, but I think he's lost some of his vocal stamina over the past 2-3 years.
Only 2 stars out of 5. |
