Well...I'm not claiming to have a direct link to Ronnie's brain or anything like that, because clearly, I don't. However, I managed to get the story. I did find the robot voices to be rather creepy, because I have this stupid fear of robots. Seriously. They got my attention.

I thought Ronnie's retelling of it at the end was kind of a nice touch. I've always enjoyed his speaking voice as well.

In my opinion MAGICA is the worst album of Dio. Its style is much different from Dio's usual in all other albums. Cool

Wasn't Magica meant to be a return to Dio's more classic sound?

I bought Magica 6 months ago, on the same day I got ten other CDs (that I still haven't recovered from!), and listened more carefully than ever to it to try and work out the story, but got it completely wrong anyway. Silly metaphors.

I like Magica for the most part, but I can't be bothered with 'Eriel' and I'm not particullarly fond of 'Otherworld'. In my opinion of all the CDs I've ever heard, this is the that declines the most throughout. The first few songs ('Magica Theme', 'Lord of the Last Day', 'Fever Dreams', 'Turn To Stone') are all really great and I listen to them frequently, but the rest, with the exception of 'Losing My Insanity', is okay (which is as bad as RJD can get) at best.

I prefer Killing The Dragon, which I actually got on the same day, because I like just about everything on there, but I do really like Magica and I'd really like to see Magica II, perhaps not III though.

At the end, when the aliens say "all traces of Magica must be eliminated. Delete, delete, delete..." what is going on here? Could some residue of magic from the wizards be having a negative effect on the aliens? If the aliens are descendents of the inhabitants of Otherworld, then that would make sense...

Well the aliens fade out and then 'Lord of the Last Day' begins again, so I thought Shadowcast, had re-appeared and either killed them or turned them to stone, but I don't know the story that well.

I hadn't bought a Dio album in twenty years. Then a couple of weeks ago I bought the Magica and Killing The Dragon double CD.

I think Magica is great. I'm a huge fan of Craig Goldy. Not too many standout songs apart from maybe Turn To Stone. But it's a good, solid Dio album.

I was far more impressed with Killing The Dragon. That album is absolutely stunning. Almost every song a classic.

If you want to talk all-time concept albums, you can't possibly go past Rush. I'm a massive Rush fan and both 2112 and Caress Of Steel are definitely two of my very favourite all-time albums.

I like Magica, it's not my favorite, and I prefer KTD and MOTM, but I like it. I would enjoy anything new that Dio would do.

Who cares about the story... really the songs are what distinguishes the good albums from the bad. Which is why Magica is the best Dio album, and the almost the best thing RJD has done (only Dehumanizer is better).

Because those cheap Alien vocoder-voices just suck. When I first got the CD i rippedit, cut out the voices and made a version without them.

Some of Dio's best material is on this album (Fever Dreams, Losing My Insanity, Challis, Turn To Stone, Feed My Head) but i think it totally fails as a concept album. My main evidence is the fact that Ronnie has to actually tell us the story at the end of the album. ummmm....okay..... Did Geoff Tate need to explain operation mindcrime to us? No, he didn't. As a piece of heavy metal music, this album is great, but as a concept album it just doesn't work. Having a few robot voices speak between songs doesn't make it a concept album.

worked for Styx
(domo arigato) Cool
