Tool is an American rock band, formed in 1990 in Los Angeles, California. The band consists of drummer Danny Carey, bassist Justin Chancellor, guitarist Adam Jones, and vocalist Maynard James Keenan.

The band emerged with a heavy metal sound on their first LP when the genre was dominated by thrash metal, and was later seen at the top of the alternative metal movement with the release of their second LP, Ænima, in 1996. Efforts to unify musical experimentation, visual arts, and a message of personal evolution continued with Lateralus (2001) and the most recent album 10,000 Days (2006), gaining the band critical acclaim and success around the world. Tool has won three Grammy Awards, performed worldwide tours, and produced albums topping the charts in several countries.

Due to Tool's incorporation of visual arts and relatively long and complex releases, the band is generally described as a style-transgressing act and part of progressive and art rock. The relationship between the band and today's music industry is ambivalent, at times marked by censorship and the band members' insistence on privacy.

Very strange that we didn't had a topic about Tool.

I consider them as an excellent band that dominates in the scene this period and one example of their difference from the other bands is the OUTSTANDING artwork on the digipack cover of the album 10,000 Days . It was designed by Alex Grey ("Lateralus", "In Utero") and it contains two magnifying lens from where you can see the magnificent 3D pictures of the inside booklet

Such albums really make you not to even think to have the album on a TDK CD-R and the songs written with pen !!!

A new DVD under the title "Vicarious" will be released by Tool on the 18th of December.

The DVD will contain a video clip of this song (that was the first single of the band from their last album 10,000 days) and also a documentary of how this song was created and the general work of Adam Jones (guitarist) on the visual part.
