MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio has suggested that the veteran metal warriors may be preparing to make their first U.K. appearance in over a decade. "We've decided that our U.K. fans should no longer be fucked over by the assholes who are out there," the bassist said. "We're making preparations to put on the kind of show that they deserve."

On July 6, 2007, MANOWAR will release its as-yet-untitled new double live album. This more-than-two-hour-long manifest of pure power will feature the entire setlist of the recent Demons, Dragons and Warriors Tour 2007, including tracks that have never been played live, like "The Oath" and "Mountains", as well as immortal classics like "Warriors Of The World United" and "The Gods Made Heavy Metal". On the same day, RHAPSODY OF FIRE will release its first-ever DVD, chronicling the 2005 tour and production for the albums "Symphony Of Enchanted Lands, II" and "Triumph Or Agony". Highlights of this double DVD are recordings from RHAPSODY OF FIRE's first tour through U.S. and Canada as well as their outstanding performance at the Eartshaker Fest 2005. Both releases will be made available through MANOWAR's Magic Circle Music.

On July 7, 2007, MANOWAR will headline the Magic Circle Festival in the heart of Germany, Bad Arolsen. Also scheduled to appear are HOLYHELL, MESSIAH'S KISS (the German/American/British metal act featuring current RIOT singer Mike Tirelli) and MAJESTY.

MANOWAR has confirmed that it will perform the band's first six albums in their entirety at next year's Magic Circle Festival, set to take place July 9-12, 2008 in Bad Arolsen, Germany. The event will feature four days of metal, 20,000 free beers, 20,000 free copies of the new MANOWAR single and four custom-built choppers owned by MANOWAR members to be given away.

MANOWAR is scheduled to perform on the Friday evening of the festival, where they will play "Battle Hymns", "Into Glory Ride" and "Hail To England". The following night, the band will play "Sign Of The Hammer", "Fighting The World" and "Kings Of Metal". This set will also feature, for the first-time, a rendition of "The Crown And The Ring (Lament Of The Kings)", which will feature the original choir and orchestral performance that has never been seen before.

Tickets for the four-day event are priced at $115.00 (80 euros) and can be purchased at this location.

It's like Gorgoroth lyrics. (exept Gorgoroth lyrics is about Satan, not "THE #1 WArrior of the world!!!!111")

Still, I totally agree with myself. Manowar is _quite_ gay (that's why I think they love to tour...together.. Wink )

I know people love these guys but the times I've listened I sit there missing the joke.
Wtf am I missing? I'm willing to give these guys a shot and listen again if it turns out Im just dense. But to me they just seemed like steroid monkeys doing a bad Ted Nugent impression

The very well known "Silent Night" is now recorded by Manowar in two editions, English and German (as "Stille Nacht")

They said it is a Christmas gift to their funs and it is free for download from the official cite of the band. Shocked Laughing

Amazing band.
If you can tolerate the over the top lyrical themes then woo.
The only other metal bassists I know apart form Joey Demaio with such a distinctive sound are Cliff Burton and Steve Harris.
Its like he's breaking away from the traditional back ground role of a bass player and going for a more frontal approach.
Piccolo Bass is amazing and even if its essentially guitar.
It still sounds better. Because in this world, in the REAL world, no matter how bluesy, widdly, expressive or insane you are with guitar, its usually only solos where you can go nuts, otherwise there's a lack of power.
Solution? Turn up the bass and start pounding it like no tomorrow, make those 6 string bitches work harder! (and let the drummer whine at you for not playing properly)

Other bands play? Manowar kills!

Hi guys,

Manowar released that statement only yesterday (probably 'cos they were organising the tribute thing), but from the moment the sad news came we opened a thread in the official Manowar forum (it requires registration, like this one). The thread has some 12 pages at this stage, and going.

We've been mourning Ronnie over there and I can say that all of us were great admirers of Ronnie James Dio and certainly know how huge he has been to Heavy Metal.

After all, Joey DeMaio (Manowar bassist and founder) was a close friend of Ronnie. Also was Eric Adams (singer). Joey openly admired him and told the story that if it wasn't for Ronnie he would have never got into this business. Here's a great video Smile

We owe a lot to RJD Smile

All the best!
