| Does anybody here like Venom? Now before someone says it, I KNOW they're not the best musicians in metal, but that's not the point. Venom helped create "extreme" metal, with their use of satanic lyrics, and fast tempos. That's why I happen to like Venom, cause at the time they were doing something different, and that's cool, IMO. So does anyone else like Venom??? |

Back in 1985, I did to some extent. I have never been a devil guy, but the music of Venom at the time was as in your face as you could get. They were the proverbial slap in the face to society. So being a bit of a rebel, I taunted my elders with their music. It wasnt very long though before I started to see how comical they really were. They were cool when I was 15, but by the time I was 16 I had moved on _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Haha, yeah, I know what you mean. They are silly sometimes. But that's one of the reasons why I like them. They are a satanic band, but its kind of a tongue in cheek type of thing. |

Venom are not my favourite ones at all, but I like something by them. They're one of the few extreme bands that I listen to... _________________ THEY CAN'T STOP US, LET 'EM TRY, FOR HEAVY METAL WE WILL DIE!

They're a good band, another local NWOBHM band, well, my friend's dad used to know a few of em.
Satanism itself is total lol, nobody sings about the devil like Venom. |

I totally disagree.
First Running Wild lp's are really near to Judas Priest. Maybe you find them near to Venom because of their first lyrics. When journalists started to say that they were Black Metal because of their lyrics, Rock'n'Rolf get angry and changed Running Wild's style.
They started to talk about pirates and they became more influenced by Iron Maiden instead of Judas Priest.
My favourite Running Wild albums are "Pile Of Skulls" and "Black Hand Inn". I got a patch of "Black Hand Inn" on my denim jacket too. _________________ THEY CAN'T STOP US, LET 'EM TRY, FOR HEAVY METAL WE WILL DIE!

more than just the lyrics. Gates to Purgatory just gave off a vibe resembling vemon, more-so than either Priest or Maiden. Even Ralf's voice had a very similar tone to cronos'.
Im no expert on Vemon... can't say their music ever interested me.
But I enjoy Running WIld's first 2 albums much more than the pirate ones.... the music became real generic. _________________

Sorry, but I don't find very similar things between Running Wild and Venom to be honest. I find their first two lp's nearer to Judas Priest than Venom (moreover, Rock'n'Rolf took the name of the band from the Priest song...). You said that Rock'n'Rolf voice is similar to Cronos one... well, according to me his voice isn't so similar to Cronos', also if I can understand that his voice is nearer to Cronos one than Rob Halford's, but actually he got a voice diffrent from both the other two singers... _________________ THEY CAN'T STOP US, LET 'EM TRY, FOR HEAVY METAL WE WILL DIE!
