I've got tickets for the gig in Brighton, UK, in November. So until I get to see the gig for myself I can't comment, but rest assured I will be voicing an opinion, be it good or bad.

It was the best show have ever been too, Dio Toni and Giezer were all perfect. They did a 20 min version of heaven and hell, that was insane, that included a drum(Vinny Appice) solo, Guitar(Toni) solo, Bass(Giezer) solo and Dio even did a vocal solo. _________________ Give ma a choice between pleasure and pain I choose PAIN! |

| I was at the opening show of the tour in Vancouver back in March, and it was undoubtably the best night of my entire life because i got to see my heroes live and in person. I sang along with every single song. I got so tired from banging my head around that i had to sit down at one point! Ronnie, Tony, Geezer and Vinny gave me the best night of my life, and for that, i thank them. |

Awsome show in StLouis beautiful set well choriographed lights sound and set Awsome! Ronnie voice was as always well in tune and he put on a great preformance seeming to love what he does which makes the show ,Geezer Butler after seeing him again I believe is the best Bassist of all time(how do you make a bass sound like a digerido his hands must ache after a show) (Next to John Paul Jones) ,Tony Iommi as always blew me away He actually made me shed a few tears on Die Young, Vinnie Apice freaking kicks ass he rips through the whole show he's a blur of white light behind the drums,Key boardist is awsome as well only wish they had given him some credit and let us see him his contributions are evident, all in awsome ! |

This show seemed kinda short. It was the last of this tour by the way. They stopped and gave them their gold record plaques for the new live CD going gold.
They played these tracks off each album:
Heaven and Hell
Neon Knights
Children of the Sea
Heaven and Hell
Die Young
Mob Rules
Voodoo
Sign of the Southern Cross
E5150 (intro)
The Mob Rules
Falling off the End of the World
Dehumanizer
Computer God
I
There was:
One drum solo
Two guitar solos (Die Young intro and Heaven and Hell).
The show was great. Queensryche was great. Alice Cooper to whom I only know a few songs was different but both opening acts seemed to play longer than what is typical. Alice came back for the encore and gave three more tracks. Mk II( Sab's encore only consisted of Neon Knights. The show none the less was great. The stage looked different than the first time. Graphics were different as well. One major bummer besides a shorter set list was the fact that the seat I had was too far to one side of the stage. It was fine for both opening acts since both of them perform more to the front but the headliners perform farther back so Tony was mostly obscured from view. If they did not have monitors above the stage all I would have seen of him for most tracks would be the end of the neck of his guitar.
This ticket was a pre sale ticket from Live Nation and this particular section is a hidden section for Verizon Amp (Irvine Meadows). When you try to look at their map to see where it is it does not list it. Live Nation if they are going to be handling this crap should in the future film each seat looking at the stage so each of us can get a look at how the stage will be viewed by the seat. My seat should had been discounted for obstruction. Instead the entire section was the same price. Plus they should open the map up like an airline does and allow us to pick the actual seat, not simply say give me X number of tickets and then BAM we get whatever. That is one of the things I loved about flying Alaska. I could went ordering tickets online pick my seat.
Lastly, I still do not understand the need for people to move around so much at any concert. I understand in between acts but NOT while they are on stage. If you just want to hear a live performance then buy the damn live CD. We are there to SEE a live performance as well. I do not know how many times I got bumped and had to move back or forth so someone could get in or out of the row. At the Forum it was those going up and down the stairs who kept bumping me. At Verizon Amp it was those within the row who could not stay seated.
The crowd was exceedingly older. I saw one person being dragged away, a youngin. But if this moving about is due to unable to control one's bladder then damn next time either get handicapped seating or sit up on the lawn. OR trade with someone on the end like ME so they do not have to be interrupted at EVERY song.
There are two things in this world you do not do in my presence: A) interrupt me while listening to Dio and B) interrupting me while listening to Sabbath, any incarnation.. If it happens to be both A and B well you may just have signed your own death warrant. If the room is on fire then I will simply die listening to what I want to listen to.
Now for the Forum crowd they all stood up which is typically MO for when the headliner comes on. The Forum is in LA. Irvine is in Orange County. They were sitting down. I think they stood up for the first track. So there I am standing there leaning against the rail getting into the zone when I get this odd feeling after a few tracks. I turn back around and the entire fucking section is sitting down. Sitting down! Old farts. People are leaning one way or another to see around me. WTF. _________________ Smacks & Manly Thumps,

Oh one thing that was cool besides being there was that when approaching the end of the line where they search you before letting you in this big ass security dude pulled open this gate and said go on through. The guy with the yellow jacket at that station who was wanding everyone and patting them down called out to me and that security guard said he is cool I vouch for him and he had closed the gate behind me and the person that was behind me had to through that yellow jacket dude.
I guess the shirt I was wearing with this across the front:

sorta paid off.
naught, just wanted to see if anyone was paying attention. The being let through part without being searched was true. _________________ Smacks & Manly Thumps,

Well, at least you would die doing what you love....I've often thought that as I was driving and listening to music..
That is also the way it was in Albuquerque...I was standing against the rail with a couple of other people, and at one point I looked behind me and some people had left after Megadeath, and most of the people who stayed-that were in the seated section on the floor-were sitting down as well. I know some people were pissed at me because I was standing on the bottom of the rail on my tip toes with both arms in the air giving the horns or whatever. I'm sure people thought I was a nut, but I am so I didn't give a shit _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |

Sucks because it was at that moment I felt old. My dark brown hair is not so dark anymore and has grey speckled throughout. My goatee has this white stripe down the middle.
I just kept shaking my head thinking is this what I have to look forward to? I mean the lights went out and I was up, horns flying, railing leaning. After turning around I thought I was in an old folks home. Maybe they would had played more tracks if the audience got off their asses.
But I remembering coming to this same place to see him during the Killing the Dragon tour. I was the oldest of the group by around 10 years. We got grass seats then went for a limo. We missed Motorhead because they all wanted to stay outside by the limo and drink. We barely made the first Dio track and the rest of them are supposed to be Maiden fans but fuck they just stood there when Maiden came on.
ahhhhh
I have been working on getting what I do have digitized organized. I am still on the D's. Dio in fact. Making sure all the ID3 tags are correct or the way I want them so my iTunes library is right. I am at over 2000 tracks with 80 some gigs to go and then working on what I have not put in order and digitized. What I have added is all the concerts I have collected. I am still on the Sacred Heart tour. I have at least one compete SH tour with Viv and one with Craig. I have at least 3 full ones for Dream Evil. I missed that tour. Anyway ixnay on that. I worked some OT a week ago and I was at work till 11pm. I had some Sabbath concert from the Heaven and Hell tour cranked. If I could only play it everyday like that. _________________ Smacks & Manly Thumps,

That sucks that the general lack of enthusiasm of the crowd could make you feel old...I will b 40 soon and I felt so alive and I don't want to say "young", but every cell in my body was screaming with joy
I didn't give a rat's ass that people were sitting down. Someone from the band said to me after that show, "oh you saved my life out there", so I assume he saw people sitting and was just glad that someone up front was going nuts...There is actually a youtube video of that night taken from in the back somewhere, and you can hear me screaming like one of those freaky chicks at a beatles concert...I litterally couldn't talk for days. It was the best concert I have ever been to. I went the next night VIP and watched from where ever I could see from the side, but front row totally blew that away. I just should have left after the first night...
I plan on going just as insane as soon as I get to see IM again...my husband is going to go with me...he's never been to a metal show with me and I think he will be quite suprised at how nuts I get...I love it. It's like a roller coster ride that lasts a hell of a lot longer
Anyway Devin, if H&H, Maiden and SO many other killer bands are up there rocking their asses off, don't let some idiots make you feel old...I hope you made them feel old...and stupid _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |
