Be sure to say "Guten Tag" for me if you get a chance to interview him. I saw his solo tour about two years ago, and he just gets better and better. Plus the audience was amazing and it's incredible how much respect he still gets. He's easily in the top 5 hard rock guitar players of all time for me, and probably near the top of that list with perhaps only Eddie above.

Michael Schenker is one of the best rock players ever existed. His taste for melodic solos, his riffs, his sound, makes him almost perfect.
Mi fav album with UFO is Obsession, and Walk on water, is a fantastic reunion album. I have to add the fantastic Strangers in the night, the bible of hard rock albums.
Mi fav album with MSG is Assault attack, with the amazing Graham Bonnet at vocals. Debut album is amazing, full of great stuff. One night at Budokan is another fantastic live album.
I saw him at first time opening for Maiden in 1983, an amazing night. He shown to the audience who's the master.

Check the sleeve notes on "SITN", some of the songs are Paul Chapman not Schenker.

Makes it an even better album.

Cool

I had no idea Paul played on some of the Strangers tracks. He is a hell of a guitarist and I still think No Place to Run and Wild, Willing are great records with great solos. A bit bluesier than Schenker but still very precise.

if you haven't heard the 'lonesome crow' lp by the scorpions (1972), you might want to find it... it's got a 16-year-old michael schenker on it... the drummer (wolfgang dzony?) is very jazzy... it's very different from both the uli and the matthias eras...

on the http://www.ulijonroth.com website, there's a live version of 'rock bottom' featuring both michael and uli... it's pretty good... it's great seeing both of them together...

uli and michael; michael and uli... two of the greats...

i've always considered both of them to be exceptional guitarists...

used to listen to 'force it' and 'phenomenon' all the time... and had several of the msg releases...

went through a huge, 'uli scorps' phase as well... even picked up earthquake and firewind... those both had some awesome riffs...

but yeah... phenomenon and force it... great, great albums...

There are European import CD's which have two UFO albums (starting with Phenomenon) on each CD! They are very reasonably priced and the remastering was done excellently! I highly recommend them.
PS: I like the first MSG solo record the best. Simon Phillips is such an awesome drummer, and this is the only hard rock album I know of him playing on.

Studio Seven in Seattle is a ggod spot also but longer drive, Hey Metalbard remember Studio Seven? Haha.. what a killer night! Very Happy

I always loved the Force It album killer riffs and solos all over the place.

The Canyon in Agoura? Man I used to go there all the time, too bad I'm so far away - it's about the size of the Blues Cafe!
Awesome!
Have to wait for them in Holland.
UFO is touring with Vinnie Moore on guitar as far as I know - who is also awesome.
Thanks for the update!!!
