Are these bands any good. I wanna get some of their stuff. Also, how about behemoth and bands like that? Does anyone know. _________________ Chase the horizons, catch the illusion

Arch Enemy are in my opinion an excellent band and I wouldn't hesitate in reccomending the Wages Of Sin album which I believe to be their best album followed up with Doomsday Machine. I do prefer their work with Angela Gossow because I find her vocals better than orginal Vocalist Johan Liiva however I have only just discovered the sound of the original vocalist so I need more time to listen to his work with them.
But depending upon your tastes your opinion may differ so, like I said I would reccomend Wages Of Sin without hesitation as for me it represents the best of the band as whole as a first purchase and then either Anthems of Rebellion or Doomsday Machine. The best thing to do would be to look on youtube for the videos from the albums such as:
Wages Of Sin album - Ravenous
Anthems Of Rebellion album - We Will Rise
Doomsday Machine album - Nemesis
So I would reccomend Arch Enemy especially the three most recent albums mentioned above with Angela Gossow no problem as I've listened to these well enough to do so but only discovered the original vocalist two days ago so I can't comment yet.
As for the other bands I haven't heard them so I cannot help you there. |

Well, I like Death a lot. Chuck Shuldiner was a pioneer of death metal. Canniibal Corpse is good too, but I'd prefer their older material mostly because I like older death metal. Today's stuff seems kinda polished to me and that kinda makes death metal seem like it's lost some of it's early charm, being that it was so raw back then.
As for Arch Enemy, I couldn't say, cause I'm still trying to get used to the vocals. I'd recommend all of Death's albums, their earlier stuff if you want raw death metal, or their later material which is death metal with a progressive edge. But for Cannibal Corpse, I couldn't tell you which one to get. But just for the hell of it I'll say get their Eaten Back to Life album. |

Just one more thing to add in regards to Arch Enemy. After heavy listening, I find the original vocalist Johan Liiva to be mixed in rating in my opinion.
On Stigmata he is no Angela Gossow but the music is good and it is a solid album.
However BURNING BRIDGES is an excellent album and it is extremely melodic. Here Johan Liiva give an incredible display which I would rank alongside Angela Gossow anytime. This album has really impressed me and stands alongside Wages of Sin as a favourite album of the band (I can't get the excellent track Silverwing out of my head right now).
So if you are interested in checking out Arch Enemy I would recommend Wages of Sin and Burning Bridges before Anthems of Rebellion and Doomsday Machine. |
