Twas only a matter of time til this battle came directly.
Personally Stargazer is my choice but Heaven And Hell shouldn't be booted out the battle so easily.
Stargazer, true epic. Epic solo, top notch vocals, EPIC story, epicness unlimited, Great bass-work (including the synth). The Progressive build of the song, where it gets heavier and more epic as it builds and progresses is great, the outro is just the king, the outro to me starts at the final chorus. The Munich Philharmonic's contribution just builds and rushes Stargazer to the top, beyond the greatness of Tony Iommi's trippy solo and the blues style of the first 2 verses and the brilliant top notch bass, vocals need no introduction or description. 2 great songs, 2 top notch batches of master musicians and 2 top notch performances.
In the end Stargazer takes it for me, Greater solo, greater vocals, greater everything all in all. I much prefer the sound of a Fender strat to the overused (IMO) Gibson Les Paul.
Decide if you dare. The decision could tear your mind apart. Seriously. |

Two awesome songs, both the tracks are 10/10 but "Heaven And Hell" is my favourite Ronnie James Dio's song, so mine isn't a difficult choice: "Heaven And Hell".
It goes on and on and on...

| I voted 'Stargazer', but both are very good songs obviously. In any case, I do have to admit to having a soft spot for Rainbow. |

Heaven and hell, very hard choice though. Hate to be a pain in the ass but Iommi uses an SG, not a Les Paul _________________ If I speak at one constant volume. at one constant pitch. at one constant rhythm.

This is not a fair question!
Allrighty, had to go with Stargazer for it is more epic, has nothing too much and I am all into philharmonics and orchestras.. _________________ It goes on and on. On and on it's Heaven and Hell all your life. |

I though Iommi started using his signature SG much later than 1980.
It sounds like a distorted Les Paul on record, either that or they look and sound so similar it's too hard to distinguish.
The story of stargazer vs the meaning of heaven and hell, both blurry at first but in the end, ingredients of 2 epics. |

| Very difficult because both songs are amongst Dio's best but for me it's got to be Heaven & Hell. Whilst I love Stargazer and believe it may be the better song for a variety of reasons, Heaven & Hell was the first song featuring Dio that I heard and the song that got me into Black Sabbath (as before it I'd only heard Paranoid - the song which was OK but meh) and as such I voted Heaven & Hell - though both are 10/10 in my book. |

Nah he had a Strat very early on, (he was oging to use it on the first album) but i think it broke somehow so he used his backup guitar, his SG and has used it since. I want one! haha. _________________ If I speak at one constant volume. at one constant pitch. at one constant rhythm.

| Should of got a new strat but getting the typical Sabbath doom sound out of one of those titans isn't easy, got to kill it's sound with distortion and detuning. |

It's like to select between 2 sons! But if I must say one song, I vote Heaven & Hell. _________________ Who cried for the children?

It's not that difficult, I prefer Stargazer, although it was Heaven and Hell's first lines that made me fall in love with Dio! Vocal perfection. But Stargazer is more complex and just closer to my soul, my beliefs, my dreams. And it is as much about this "carusel" world as is Heaven and Hell, only put in a fairytale/magical terms.
Let's face is, isn't the Stargazer Wizard that King who "blinds your eyes and steals your dreams"? |

Definitely gotta go with Stargazer. Anybody who hasn't heard that song needs to. You may learn emotions you'd only heard of. _________________ The Devil is me and I'm holding the key
