I've started making a list of words that no-one says/sings better than Ronnie James Dio.
Here's the list so far - let me know what I've forgotten and what song(s) it's in.
Hell
Evil
Dark
Desire
Black
Pain
Voodoo
Night
Rainbow
Pain
Virgin
Children
Dragons
Holy
I'm thinking this could eventually be a good addition to Dio's Wikipedia entry...
Speaking of Wikipedia, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow

heh...

There are plenty of words that RJD puts his mastery upon. Some are simple words that you would not think of when describing RJD, but here is an example. the word "again".
You wouldnt think of this particular word as being anything in a song, until you listen to Killing the Dragon.
"Time to be killing the Dragon, Again"
Dio sings the word "again" better than anyone _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

He defintly likes to work the Rainbow in to a song alot. lol
RJD & Rob Halford have such a way with words there song lyrics just amaze me in some songs like.
RJD:SIGN OF THE SOUTHEN CROSS
From the book, the word is spoken
Whispers from forgotten sound
Gather all around the young ones
They will make us strong
Reach above your dreams of pleasure
Given life to those who died
Look beyond your own horizons
Sail the ship of sighs
And its the sign of the southern cross
Its the sign of the southern cross
JUDAS PRIEST:RAPIDFIRE
Hammering anvils
Screaming muscle and might
Shattering blows
Crashing row beating fright
Fast devastating and
Desolisating the curse
Blasting the cannons of
Truth through each man
Of this earth
Wielding the axe
Comes the one culmination
That's always seemed
Certain to bring down the curtain on greed
Sifting the good from the bad
It's the age for the rage of the
Dogs which must fall to the just
And be free
Now grate for the vandals
Who trampled and sampled
Till this place conditioned
Brought forth demolition to war
The slipping and sliding
Corrosive subsiding
That withered and waned
Till the world seemed all drained
Fills the bay _________________

agreed
this thread could go on forever with diehard fans analysing every single word in every song...
and for the record i think Dick Valentine from Electric Six says 'Evil' better than RJD...
let the flaming begin  |

I agree with the comment about everything he sings he says wonderfully, but I really think any word that has a sort of mystical or middle ages reference he gets accross, extremely well.

with some other singers you listen to.you go throught the song and the words just pass by.but with Dio he is singing the words don't just pass.with his tone of voice and his emotions he really gets this word into you and you think about it.
i still remember this.i was once listening to the heaven and hell album and when Dio sang"hang your head andtake my hand" i swear i'm not lying i held out my hand through the air infront of me.and inside me i sensed something hold it...WELL,YES I AM FULL OF IMAGINATIONS... |

We all have imagnations. Excellent Reem! I wish I could hold out my hand and suddenly Ronnie take it! _________________ "The closer you get to the meaning, The sooner you'll know that you're dreaming."
