The most popular is Abigail, but so far I haven't found any I don't like. King Diamond himself is very proud of the new album, Give Me Your Soul Please, but obviusly I haven't heard it yet.

I think Abigail was the most poular because it really didnt have the "all hail Satan" stuff in it. It was a concept album with a pretty good story line. Never been into the Satan stuff myself, with exception to a brief period in the mid 80s when Venom was big. Even then I thought it was all a little cheesy. Abigail however showed that KD had a little depth and was very good.

I'd say go for Mercyful Fate's "Dont Break the Oath"

amazing guitar work as well as vocals.

for his solo work, "Abigail", and i haven't heard the new one yet...

King / Fate's work are totally brilliant. His theatrics, the vocals and the Satan influence is just that. The stores he tells which he does a good job uses literary liberties like all do.

I'm not getting into his personal beliefs, if he thinks what he sings is true or not, of course it's not. I enjoy his story telling.

I am yet to hear anything Satanic in his work. Just sounds like he's telling horror stories to me.

Ah OK - gotcha Wink I've only heard his solo stuff so far - hence my ignorance Very Happy Still, I've sen more explicitly Satanic lyrics done in the late 60s by Coven - so it's not really shocking, as I had been led to believe on some CD review sites.

On another note, Them vs Conspiracy. Anyone have an opinion on this? I've consistently sen Them rated as better, and it is his biggest selling album, yet I think Conspiracy is a superior album musically. The storyline and lyrics admittedly aren't as good, but just ti listen to, Conspiracy is better for me. Opinions?

Drip Drip is a song I adore - and that's pretty Satanic too! Ah Comus, if only more people knew ye!

I don't have a problem with drumming on Them, I just think that the album is pretty tuneless and the riffs aren't as memorable as those on any other album I've got by King Diamond (Abigail, Them, Conspiracy, The Spider's Lullabye, The Graveyard, Nightmares In The Nineties, Give Me Your Soul...Please)Obviously it's a limited comparison, but for what it's worth.

Have you ever heard mercyful fate's "the beginning"? It has Satan's Fall before they polished it along with Nuns Have No Fun .

"As they lower me down into that hole in the ground, i scream out for help but they hear not a sound".
"I scratch at the lid my fingers they bleed, is this happening to me or is it just a dream".
