For me, those songs have more depth in them than what they come accross as on the surface.
I believe the "man on the silver mountain" is more of a symbolic song about a person who represents all truth, or the "divine" answer to all of life's questions.
"I could have been a dreamer" is my favorite Dio song, and really I believe it represents maybe a goal? or a "dream"  no pun intended.
I'd love to hear your interpretations.

As a musician who was some what successful way back when, and had a hard time adjusting to normal life when I gave it up, Here is my interpretation, of I could have been a dreamer.
Im not going to go line by line, but basically what I get from the song is this. the wolf pack is society, and the more you become part of society the harder it is to break free of that society. You start to forget the things that made you special, or an individual and become just like everyone else. To be a Dreamer in society is frowned upon conforming to society standards are what is expected. The song is basically about Choosing to conform or making your Dreams become reality.
I have lived on both sides of this spectrum, so this song is very special to me, and is one of the few RJD songs that will induce a tear or two.

 Rainbow in the dark:
Your a rainbow in the dark- may refer to someone kind of lost or not paid attention to, or someone who has special qualities that no one can see. there's no sign of the morning comming-may mean they are stuck in that situation.
there's no sign of the morning coming-your a rainbow in the dark.
these 2 lines seem to be sang in reverse (maybe because it sounds better?) anyway it would seem more logical if the rainbow in the dark part came first. that's asuming my interpetation of the lyrics is correct. 
the song jailbreak by ac/dc is a two verse story and the verses are reversed-the verse that is sung second is actually the first part of the story. |
