Ok at the risk of jumping the gun here i'll treat this as it is and tell it like i heard it...... early this week my wife recieved a phone call at her work from a good friend of mine, from way back, who is a DJ at a small raDIO station here in town on the Umatilla Indian Reservation . I had no idea he was a DJ up to this point...he told her that he was going to play this song we've been recording that you have been reading about in the long distance recoring thread. She called me and let me know to listen and i heard the song on 101.1 FM at about 3:30pm really cool event for me i've never heard any of my work with anyone on the raDIO before. Soooooo... i called the friend of mine who gave the other friend (the DJ) the copy of the song that was played on the 101.1 station and i thanked him for passing it on to our pal at the raDIO and he said that not only is this going to be on this small powered station but this DJ friend of ours is planning on mailing copies to a couple bigger stations two of which are up in Washington. Shocked Very Happy I don't have a clue what will happen from this and it may turn out to be nothing at all in the end... Crying or Very sad ... however just hearing this news made me a little weak in the knees and who knows where this may end up going!? This has all been something that you all have been a part of and still are and i thought you all should hear about it. Wink We'll see what happends.

Al and Dave i called the DJ and left him a message that we plan on making a tighter mix because the copy he has is the last one i did and the effects caused the little time issuse we talked about so i'm hoping he mails the best we can give him and we'll go from there! Any thoughts?

Hey David how'd you like Al's new final final final mix Laughing Big difference with the bass track in time with the rest of it, i still don't know how it got shifted in the first place unless it was the little bit of chorus which did have a pre-delay setting at 20 millaseconds which must have been the problem. This morning the DJ / Chris showed up here at my house and i gave him the new mix and a list of your names and a brief rundown of the story and damn it i just remembered i didn't ask about the interview but i'll talk with him soon so we're ok, and he is sending it off to other radeo stations. Wink

It is my intention to put up the song on its own page for everyone to hear. I am also working on getting it out to itunes worldwide so that people can download it for their PCs and ipods. That might take a few days or so, but hopefully I can get the song up by tomorrow.
The radio will not play it long if it is unavailable and there has to be a way of tracking its popularity, thats why we need it on itunes.

Don't know that much about getting songs out to radio stations, but I always believe in the Shotgun approach, get it to as many people as possible as quickly as possible before any buzz about it dies down. Make it easy to get to for whoever has to also. We should get treated like a normal song with songwriting and performance royalties for airplay (other than "amatuer night" kind of airplay) if it is published - has to be published with ASCAP, not just copyrighted in order to get reimbursed for airplay. Check out ascap.com - it's really easy. We can donate that also I'm guessing.

Thats all in the works, but I wouldnt worry too much just yet. The station playing us is a small non commercial station. If we actually start getting airplay on the bigger stations then it would be an issue, but like I said its all in the works anyway so we are good!!!
