I got motivated by these threads and went and looked up WASP clips on Youtube. Some pretty good stuff. I knew Chris Holmes in high school but didn't follow him much after that. I took my first (and only) bass lessons from his bassist Don (pre WASP days). My friend Brad took lessons from Chris and Randy Roads for years . Blackie definitely got where he always wanted to go - the raunchiest, sleaziest, hardest rock band in the world.
You went to school with Chris Holmes? That's cool. He's one of my favorite guitar players. Are there any other famous musicians you went to school with? Laughing

I definitely love it... it's awesome, maybe their best album since "The Crimson Idol". And Blackie Lawless is a great musician!

Magic!

Blackie Lawless returns after the great “Neon God” and really reminds to everybody his position to the rock scene. His new work “Dominator” came not only to satisfy the “thirst” of his fans, but also to transfer the opinions of Blackie about the war in Iraq and the rest “beautiful” things of the Bush era.

What are those thoughts? The most American citizens after the shock of the 11th of September wanted the terrorists to pay for their actions and believed Bush that the war in Iraq could bring the results they wanted. But eventually they realized that they were full of b…shits and they saw more clearly the way their country acts to less powerful countries. Blackie was based on these thoughts and created a hero (President Bush) that sends to the war his loyal “followers”.

Except from these thoughts the album gives energy and emotion, and on the other hand we have the peak (as about the lyrics) with the wonderful “Heaven’s Hung In Black”. The fraise comes from Abraham Lincoln and it talks about the dead soldiers in the Gettysbourg battlefield and we can say that it has a connection with the dead soldiers in Iraq.

St. Peter talks with a dead soldier and explains him that heaven is full of angels and there are no more feathers for him. This is the best moment of the album. Blackie touches us, with the hero yelling “Don’t You Leave Me Today” and creates a song that not only it could be included in the “Crimson Idol” album (the most “right album/wrong time metal creation of all time), but it could maybe displace a song from this legendary album.

Of course in any case the “Dominator” as a complete album, cannot stand next to the “Idol” or the “Headless Children”, but we are talking for a very respectful job that worth our attention. Musically have many similarities with the first albums, with a very good example the “Long, Long Way To Go” that talks about the “habit” of US for expansion, that we mentioned above. Negative factors are: the small duration of the album (8 songs in less than 50 minutes) and also the “fall” as about quality of the songs after the first half. But as a final comment, it worth’s to buy this album, as Blackie and Dave hold the metal flack very high this year.

"Mercy" And both versions of "Heaven's Hung In Black" are among the most amazing songs I've heard from the boys.

I have to agree!
Blackie Lawless's voice kicks ass on the reprise of "Heaven's Hung In Black"!

Yeah, if you ask me it reminds me (for the powerful) to the acoustic version of "Hallowed Ground" from "Dying For The World"...

You know what, I thought of hallowed ground too when i first heard the song, gotta love both of them.

Another song from the album that deserves love is Heaven Blessed, it's too funky for it's own good but I like Burning Man.

People tear into Blackie worse than Gene Simmons, Axle Rose, Ozzy or anybody else on blabbermouth. I'm so sick of it. If he does short shows or cancels concerts, then go ahead and let him have it. But people on there bash his new music (the last 5 albums) and I swear to god I don't think any of them have heard it. It's too bad Blackie's original fanbase didn't mature along with his songwriting. Rolling Eyes
