1. Tracy G
Love the heaviness. I think his solos are creative and he also brings new power to original Dio songs like Heaven and Hell without destroying them. That is artistic talent
2. Doug Aldrich
He rocks. Not as powerful as Tracy G, but still not the power. Craig's cool, but I think that on stage Doug Aldrich brings something to the band.
3. Craig Goldy
One of Dio's best. I think he preserves the songs but doesn't add anything to them. I mean, when Dio was with the Sabs and he did NIB, he changed it from what Ozzy did. Goldy doesn't anything like what Tracy G does. He also doesn't have the charisma of Doug Aldrich.
4. Vivian Campbell
He left to early and his guitar work fades in comparison to Aldrich, Goldy, and Grijalva.
5. Rowan Robertson
I think he had talent, but was wasting it on the wrong genre. He sounded more like light rock to me. _________________ Chase the horizons, catch the illusion

I really liked Vivian Campbell. I still am a big fan of his, I love Def Leppard, so the stuff he does there is pretty cool too.
Also Craig Goldie because he played on one of my favorite songs "I Could Have Been A Dreamer."
But that Rowan guy was good too.

Tie between Doug and Craig for me.
Each time I listen to Evil Or Divine Live, I'd be hard pressed to not love what Doug played on this album.
OTOH, Craig's playing simply has something special to it.
Viv was awesome back in the day, dunno about now, though. |

all of Dio's guitarists were great. Rowan might have been drafted alittle too early (at 18!!!!) to fully appreciate his style, but it would be interesteing to see him back in the band and compare his work now to what was done on Lock up the Wolves.
For me, Dougie is the man! _________________

Goldy wasn't that much of a performer, his spirit was his music which in turn was fan bloody tastic.
Aldrich really gave the band an edge on stage, although his style lacked what Goldy gave, Aldrich gave his own twist to the songs.
Campbell and Robertson... Too short stints for me to develop much of an opinion.
Tracy G... NOW HE was brilliant, his style and solos gave new life to the band, not as good as as Goldy maybes but damn he was excellent.
I can't decide. |

| My favorite would have to be Doug Aldrich at this point (although I've only heard him on Holy Diver Live). |

Vivian for his work on the first 2 albums. He was simply killer, back in the day.
Craig is also a legend and he deserves to be the current DIO's axeman.
Doug was amazing as well (technically speaking maybe the best off them all) but he was just an hired gun. _________________ www.diomessageboard.com
