| when i think of Dio and who he reminds me of from other bands and musicians i think of Led Zepplin ,Deep Purple ,Pink Floyd ,Scorpions,Uriah Heep.but the other day i watched an interview that he was guest at with someone of motorhead(i don't know who)and i think the other guy was from Manowar.but Dio is more legendary from those bands.don't you think? |

Dio is one of the godfathers/founders of heavy metal as well as Black Sabbath and Rainbow where at the times. That is pretty legendary if you ask me |

Dio rose to prominence with Rainbow, so he acquired his fame after Deep Purple and those other bands of the late 60's and early 70's. When Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple to form Rainbow, many fans were eagerly awaiting. Being the singer in Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow was a great opportunity. By the mid to late 70's every rock fan knew who Dio was. And when he joined Black Sabbath, that only furthered to increase his fan-base and cement his reputation. Being a part of those two bands made him well-known, but when he came out with a solo album named Holy Diver that everyone loved, with several great follow-up albums, he became a legend in his own right.
Dio's had nothing to prove since then. But in my mind, Magica might be his greatest achievement. As with Holy Diver, every song on the album is solid and displays hard work and a desire for perfection -- but it has the added bonus of being part of a story-concept that ties it all together and makes the whole greater than the parts. Truly, this is the mark of a great artist.
And a really cool thing about Dio is that he never comes across as too proud to be associated with a younger generation of musicians. |

| from the 80s and after that.Dio hasn't changed his style of music.but he went on loved for now.but i know other bands who walk with what's loved today.and they keep changing their style this way.it's true that Dio changed his style from the way that Elf was.but i'm not talking that way.he changed his style to something that he started on his own not following what others have done.i think that's got a thing to do with his legendary.while the other bands change their music to what the audiance love.and that's wrong.that shows that they are only trying to be famous. |

The greatest bands just keep on doing what they do, and playing whether it's for 50,000 people or 50. "Keeping the Blues Alive" as the old musicians used to say. There was a time when I was younger that people laughed at Frank Sinatra a made fun of him, then his popularity came back and he was even bigger than ever with a brand new generation. Dio is still a big star but I think he will keep getting rediscovered again and again by people who appreciate great music. _________________ Bass guitarists hold it all together. |

Ronnie has one of the best voices in metal, and I don't think that anyone will come again like he did for a long time.
But I really don't like comparing musical artists, so instead of doing that, I'll just say that an another artist that sings with the similar style of Ronnie, in my opinion is Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden.
I prefer Ronnie's voice, but Iron Maiden as a different band is very great as well.

Very cool. I love checking out other bands, because I love to keep my musical choices open. Thanks for the other bands.
