Okay...I am doing this right now making up 70mins of Dio Music for a friend who has not heard of DIO Shocked
I am not picking my favourites or the classics...just songs...I think will knock him for six.I am not picking Black Sabbath songs or Rainbow songs...just DIO.
If you was doing this what songs would you have?
Remember you don't want to have all the goodies on the one cd...you want this person to go out and buy their own DIO collection
Maybe we should have a DIO DAY
And give a cd like this to a Virgin of DIO's Music Razz

Here is the running order of the cd...I have done for him.
Introductory To Dio
Magica Theme
One Night in the City
Living the Lie
Just Another Day
Caught in the Middle
Another Lie
I could have been a Dreamer
Hunter of the Heart
The Eyes
Sacred Heart
Hey Angel
Fever Dreams
Evil Eyes
Night People
Mystery
Strange Highways

I always though The Collection tracklist was a very good introduction but it only covers 1983 - 1993 so that's a little useless.
Here's Mine (not sure about the timing):

1. Stand Up And Shout
2. Caught In The Middle
3. Don't Talk To Strangers
4. We Rock
5. Egypt
6. King Of Rock N Roll
7. Hungry For Heaven
8. All The Fools Sailed Away
9. I Could Have Been A Dreamer
10. Lock Up The Wolves
11. Jesus, Mary & The Holy Ghost
12. Double Monday
13. The Lord Of The Last Day
14. As Long As It's Not About Love
15. Killling The Dragon
16. One More For The Road
17. Living The Lie

Very hard choice and I don't know if it would fit but I think that represents Dio's career pretty well Wink
One thing I would like is a replacement for the Stand Up Ans Shout anthology. The tracklist on that album was pretty dreadful. And seeing as how next year is Ronnie's 50th year in the business, a box set covering his career would be a great idea. I'm going to make a playlist right now....... Cool

I would say go out and bye Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow Heaven & Hell & Holy Diver & start from there. Very Happy

I think you picked a good selection, but they are hard choices. I have often thought a great collection to introduce Dio would be simply title tracks... they're all solid. On top of that, throw in a few other gems, like Don't Talk to Strangers, Stand up and Shout, We Rock, Egypt, Night People, Lord of the Last Day, Turn to Stone, Scream, The Eyes, and The End of the World -- how's that?

I would include "As Long As It's Not About Love" just because it shows Ronnie's ability to sing a kinda ballady song as well as the hard rocking ones.

Hey Angel is a great choice, as it is one of my favorites!

Excellent idea about the Dio day, I just might do that. Very Happy

Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum, but by no means new to Dio... more about that later perhaps. =)

For some one new to Dio I would pick out some classics from Holy Diver and The Last In Line.

1. Holy Diver (a legend)
2. Don't talk to starngers (something for thos who like sother music... but be prepared for a suprise after the intro)
3. Rainbow in the dark (althoug not a favorite by Dio himself, it seems to be something that quite a many non-heavy-rockers digg)
4. Invisible (a truely powerful song, to say underrated is an understatement)
5. The Last in Line (truely amazing)
6. Evil Eyes (not very well known, but it has really cathy lyrics... it begs to be sing-along)
7. We Rock (for those who like a heavier tune)

Those would be a great start... to get new people to open up their eyes about hard rock, metal... call it what you want =)

Welcome to the message board, Beyond. I'm pretty new here too, not to Ronnie, but I enjoy myself here and I think you will too. Your point about Rainbow In The Dark, being a non heavy rockers favorite is very true, because my friend, who listens to no Heavy Metal at all really likes this song.

Would be cool to include.
