I have met them all at the Double Tree hotel in Boisie Idaho when they opened for Deep Purple with Scorpions but i was so star struck and i'd been drinking beer all day in 108 degree (F) weather so i couldn't think of what to say, i felt like such a dumb ass! Embarassed But he was so nice to let me sit with them and have a couple drinks. And even though he insisted i not buy them any drinks i did anyway hehe Laughing Which only saved the lable a few bucks but it was the idea for me. Wink
But i fear that the man has no peace from his fans and that bothered me enough that i said goodbuy and left them alone after that. But Doug Aldrich kept coming over and chatting with me that was cool too. We talked about gear for at least an hour, and i bitched about some of the things Vivian has said about Ronnie which i supose wasn't cool but i couldn't help it. Doug said aside from Vivs statements about Ronnie he is a really nice guy. They truely are regular guys.

I'm still something of a noob to these forums, but I would like to contribute something to this discussion if I can. Here's a fanmade video to the original studio version of Stargazer by Rainbow (my favorite Dio song, b.t.w.)- http://youtube.com/watch?v=B4-vUgc2oIY

Now here's Dio performing the same song in 1994- http://youtube.com/watch?v=lTSZfCK82gA

Myself, after listening to both versions, I'm not at all shocked that his voice has changed with age. What shocks the daylights out of me is how little it's changed! I don't know if he still sounds the same today, but I'd be willing to bet he still rocks. My biggest regret is that Heaven and Hell played at the nearby Times Union Center in Albany, NY, and I missed it T_T If anyone here made the show, how was it?

What comes to mind after watching those clips is what my 4 year old daughter says, "Holy guaca-freakin'-mole!" He sounds really, really good in that last clip. I haven't seen Dio since 2004 and they obviously don't do that song on this tour, but I bet he'd nail it. Very Happy

Okay, I made a small mistake in my previous quote; the second clip wasn't 1994, but 2004. Which actually makes it all the more incredible his voice is still that amazing!

And yeah, I know they wouldn't do Stargazer on their current tour, but I still would've loved to have seen him with the riff-master Tony Iommi.

I think it's all been said, really.

For being 843 years old, the sorceror Dio completely rocks! Wink

Ok, yall, I just saw Ronnie and the boys in Detroit, and he was flawless. FLAWLESS. I am a singer, I have been singing Ronnies songs for 20 years, I know every song he does by heart. He was awesome, an understatement. He did not miss a note, and he did some cool improvised screams. The big difference between real singers and front men is obvious. When Ronnie records his vocals he is not straining in any way to hit the notes, thats just his natural voice. When guys like Axl Rose record their vocals they do all sorts of screams and yells that they cannot duplicate live without tearing their throats up, Axl has never really been able to duplicate what he does on their records live, even concerts from the late 80s he was losing his voice. All the more reason to recognize Ronnie as the master of metal, with the best voice ever. LOVE YOU RONNIE, do another 10 songs with Sabbath, do anoher tour, its your best work. I am sure, since he IS human, (I think, after that show I was thinking he was a robot it was so good) he may have nights where his voice is strained. We caught him at his best, and its the best show I have seen in a good 15 years. GO RONNIE!!

Where are you from Jetdog, Since Ive been around for twenty + years now and am originally from Detroit, we may know each other. I used to sing for Tryton with David Neil Cline, I also had a gig called Blind Robins in the early 90s, before joining a cover act ( Daddy's Belt) to make money. I was in other bands before and after that but those were the more respected ones. I toured with GrooveTribe when I left town.
