Loads of bands have performed accompanied by a full orchestra over the years and it occurred to me that some of Dio's music would work brilliantly with an orchestra; Last In Line, All The Fools Sailed Away, Eriel etc. as well as stuff like Stargazer, Catch the Rainbow, Heaven & Hell and so on from Ronnie's earlier years.
So what does everybody think? Should the band do a one-off show (or maybe even tour) with an orchestra? Perhaps it's something that could be considered as a climax to the Magica II & III tours. Your thoughts. |

no, he doesn't need an orchestra man, all the emotion is in the music he does now. _________________

Why not?
IMO, that could be cool!!! Kiss played with an orchestra, Deep Purple have been the first to play with an orchestra, Scorpions played with an orchestra, the same for Metallica and other bands and all these concerts have been great!
So, Dio with orchestra could be... "Magic"!
Actually, Ronnie James Dio sang with an orchestra with Deep Purple... he sang "Sitting In A Dream", "Love Is All" and a part of "Smoke On The Water", great performance!!!!
Magic!

Hmmm... only if his music stays heavy, so the guitars, bass and drums should stay on the forground |

| In 1999 and 2000 Ronnie was touring with Deep Purple and Orchestra, there's a DVD from London's show. |

To me i would go for it only if the Orchestra took the place of the keyboards in each song, other then that i have never really liked the blend of the two in other bands, that deal with Metalica SUCKED ASS IMO! But then again i'm not a big Metalica fan anyway. When guns n roses did it that was ok but that was the only time iv liked it and that was noly one song.
It mite be good with songs like As long as it's not about love. _________________ GUITARGOD |

Something to note, GG. That Guns 'n Roses song was WRITTEN with that string arrangement. That's probably why you like that song and not the others. The others were 'converted' from something that you were already familiar with.
That being said, I think it would be much more interesting to hear Ronnie do a rock/orchestra (henceforth I dub it 'rockestra') album of ALL NEW songs that are composed with both types of music in mind than to hear already existing songs that we all know get the 'rockestra' treatment thrust upon them. _________________ Sit on it, Potsie. |

I suppose that's probably a better idea. Roll on Dio's Rockestra featuring Jon Lord (I can dream.....).
With a huge world tour to follow of course |

I'd say no, I just don't think it fits with Dio's music. _________________ You're Breathless, ready to burn
