American/Norwegian melodic metallers KAMELOT completed their North American tour with EPICA on October 11 at the Key Club in West Hollywood, California. The band has posted the following message on its MySpace page:

"Whoa…the North American tour was awesome! The last show in Hollywood was a perfect ending to a very successful four-week tour here. The reactions exceeded everyone's expectations and we are already marking the calendar for a return in 2007! Thanks to all the members of EPICA for doing a great show everynight! All the crew on the tour: Raymond, Ray, Andy, Robin, Taz, Courtney, Jeroen, Dennis and Jeff. Thanks, to all the local promoters and bands for their part to make the tour a big success. Most importantly thanks to all the fans that came out for the shows, we cherish each and every one of you!! See you very soon in 2007!"

As previously reported, KAMELOT's first-ever DVD, entitled "One Cold Winter's Night", will be released in Europe via Steamhammer/SPV on October 30.

"One Cold Winter's Night" was recorded on February 11, 2006 at the historic Rockefeller Musichall in Oslo, Norway. KAMELOT enlisted renowned film and video director Patric Ullaeus (DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES) to chronicle the night's events. Bringing with him from Gothenberg, Sweden, Patric had a large crew of professionals and equipment, including 18 cameras, that would be used in and around the concert grounds.

The title for the band's first DVD to date (based on an earlier KAMELOT song title) was chosen long before the actual shoot. Ironically this winter turned out to be one of the longest and coldest in the country's history, with enormous amounts of snow and numerous chaos-causing blizzards.

Guitarist Thomas Youngblood of the American/Norwegian melodic metallers KAMELOT has issued the following update:

"I am flying back from some intense and very productive recording sessions with producer Sascha Paeth in Wolfsburg, Germany. We are flying over one of nature's most beautiful sites, a crystal clear view and fly over of Greenland. We can see glaziers and mountains for miles, no human presence seems to be seen anywhere. Breathless!

"The new album is going killer, folks. Casey [Grillo] is due to finish drums in the next two weeks. He returns to Gate Studios for the first time since the 'Karma' album.

"After months of work, the new DVD and live CD is finally out [in Europe]! Thanks to all the help we got from Patric Ullaeus and the various artists that help with the packaging and content."

Due to "production issues," the North American release date for KAMELOT's first-ever DVD and double live CD, entitled "One Cold Winter's Night", was moved from October 24 to December 4. A trailed for the DVD is available at the band's KamTV channel on YouTube.com.

Well, that statement is what I will call somewhat exaggerated.
We do have long cold winters here in Norway, but that winter was not harder than usual....

Guitarist Thomas Youngblood of the American/Norwegian melodic metallers KAMELOT has issued the following update:

"I am just returning from another great week in Germany as we are laying down the finishing touches of the new album. I am dying to tell you the song ideas and title but I am sworn to secrecy. We are working on the art with several artists, including one amazing new one from France. Drums are done; Casey [Grillo] did a killer job again. This time he flew to Gate Studios in Wolfsburg to record. We are aiming for a release of spring 2007, followed by the first leg of Europe tour, then to Japan and another run in North America in August. New songs, new stage and every night a party with our extended family. Also we are excited about our first visits to Finland, Russia, Serbia, Romania, Hungary and Denmark.

"What else? Some new festivals like ProgPower UK, Kvinesdal and Karmøygeddon in Norway, [where] Oliver [Palotai, keyboards] will be on stage both Friday and Saturday as DORO is the Friday Headliner and KAMELOT is Saturday's.

"Oh… the new DVD is out everywhere now. Thanks for your fantastic response to our first DVD, also thanks to Patric at Revolver for his hard work as well as Mattias and Pako who did the artwork."

I love Kamelot with Mark Vanderbilt, but can't stand Kamelot with Roy Kahn. With him the group changed their style entirely: they acquired more modern and progressive sound. I don't like either vocals of Kahn or music. Cool
I prefer more vintage sounding metal like Iron Maiden, Dio, etc. Smile
