This song presents on Elf-1972 and on Angry Machines
I'm just curious if this is the same record or two different but very similar takes |

There is no such song on the 1972 album of Elf
Tracks

2. First Avenue
3. Never More
4. I'm Coming Back for You
5. Sit Down Honey (Everything Will Be Alright)
6. Dixie Lee Junction
7. Love Me Like a Woman
8. Gambler, Gambler _________________ Video games are bad for you? That what they said about Rock 'n' Roll... |

Definitely not on Elf. Besides, no way Ronnie would have sung such a dark and depressing song in Elf. Love the song though and love Angry Machines even more!
BTW, Never More and Gambler, Gambler off of Elf (their 1st album from 1972) are MAGIC. |

Specific direction.
Look, I'm no big fan of Angry Machines. But I think the idea that on an album of metal songs by Ronnie, if the best tune is the piano/vocals only one, it doesn't speak well of the rest of the album. |

lol, he has a point there. I tend to pick "Hunter of the Heart" or "Hollywood Black" (that's on AM right? lol, I don't have that track listing memorized and get that and SH mixed sometimes). _________________

Hollywood Black is on Strange Highways, but you can be forgiven for confusing the two albums.
I've listened to Angry Machines about five times through over the last two weeks, trying to find something to really like about it. I dig some parts of songs, but there isn't anything on there I would consider an essential Dio track. I do really like Vinnie's drumming in parts, but the songs just seem to lack that special something that makes them memorable. I can look at the song titles and not quite remember what each song is like. |

A good song is a good song is a good song. Doesn't matter if it's packed in with a bunch of so-so songs. My personal tastes in the matter are like yours: Angry Machines is not one of the better DIO albums. It really doesn't matter to me that what I consider the finest song on there is a soft ballad. I was just judging a particular song, not the entire album.
By the way, your 'ppphhhhhttttt!!!!' smelled like rotting crawdads. You should see a doctor about that. _________________ Sit on it, Potsie. |

Hahaha i like the rotten crawdads thing! Nasty! I too think that song is killer, a song that is great when it's only piano and vocals is truely a great song! _________________ GUITARGOD |

When I first played this track on the Angry Machines release it brought tears to my eyes. Oddly enough my first thoughts were if ever there would be a fitting tribute to Ronnie`s epitaph this would be it. Sadly it was to come true in a way as Scott played the piano at the service.
What a ballad and what a track, it would have been great had Ronnie done more ballads over the years in Dio. PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee
