Like all of you know, in every live version of "Heaven And Hell" there's a bridge in which Ronnie sings "There's a big black shape lookin' down at me" that has been never released on the studio version of the song. Moreover, in the concerts of 1980 of Black Sabbath, Ronnie didn't sing that part... he started to sing it during the "Mob Rules" tour; do you know any story behind that "Big Black Shape"?

On the H&H tour the song was played straight through. On the Mob Rules tour, Tony's guitar solo and Sign of the Southern Cross are caught in the middle of it.
I believe the "Big Black Shape" banter was added by Ronnie as a vocal cue to help ease back into the H&H main riff before the fast end part of the song.
Ronnie must have liked it and has continued to use it since then. |

I remember a interview,by RJD where he told,that it WAS in the studio-version.But it made the song too long and they cut it.Unfortunately!

Yeah, I know that story... I listened to it on an Italian TV channel on an interview to Geezer, funny story!!!

| Has anyone noticed that on the new tour Ronnie is singing the "little white shape" part first and the "big black shape" part second, the opposite order from Live Evil? |

| probably because he wants to recreate the mixed up concepts of heaven and hell on earth that the original song was about, just for atmosphere. |

| There is a live version on a bside of the die young ep that has a live version that is not broken up with the extra verse. It is a bout 20 minutes long. |
