haha sorry to jump in here, but this is just amazing, a band formed on the Dio forum, I would've never thought it'd happen.

*claps* Mr. Green

I think it shows just how far this board has come

I would say it would be easier to pretty much complete the song at your end, minus vocals and bass and drums (with a click track I guess). Then we can layer as we go. Of course we're stuck with your arrangement but I think that's the best way to go. If we start emailing around fragments and ideas it will never get finished.

The way to convert to MP3's is a free software called Musicmatch. If your computer doesn't already have it go get it. Then click on file, then convert. You can search for your WAV file and click GO. It works great and is simple.

I agree, Try and give us a song that has a deffinate structure, if you want to put a solo on as well, do so. That way I wouldnt be inclined to put vocals over the solo section. I say we start with Guitar, then Vocals, then Bass then finish with Drums. then we can revisit each area and tweek it as needed.

Since you are transfering them from CD into the PC, that makes it that much easier. Most media players have the mp3 function when you save them. Windows Media player has a rip function, just remember to set it on mp3 format, not wma. Im not sure if Pro tools recognizes wma since its a windows based format. Real player also has a save tracks function that automatically saves them as mp3. they both put them in an unknown folder in mymusic

That sounds good, i hope the riffs work for everyone, i'll keep them as simple as possible and i'll do the same for the lead so it doesn't sound all cluttered with guitars, that can happen so easy, simple tends to be easyer to work with.. i'll keep the lead pand apart from the other guitar.

We can always elaborate more as the song develops

haha, not sure if that was towards me but no I do not.
I played the trumpet in middle school and that is about it.

If you guys do get any farther along, with like a lyrical direction to the songs you write and play, maybe I could do some sketches for a album cover or something. Even if your not doing an album, I'm looking to head in that direction with my life so I guess it'd be good practice, if you know what I mean.

I played the trumpet in middle school as well. If Im not mistaken RJD also played the trumpet as a kid before moving to bass and then vocals.

I looked for pictures of the Rainbow Bridge to Asgard, but couldnt find anything good. Maybe you could draw up something like that, just in case the guys wanted to call the project that.

Are you a good artist? If you are that would totally rock if you did our cover art!
As far as the MP3 files, GG, you can simultaneously email your track to all of us. Then we can all ad our part seperately and send them back to you at the same time. Will not take as long as doing one, then the other, then the other. Of course that would be harder for a really difficult arrangment, but fine for a pretty straightforward song. Do you have a drum maching you can program breaks into? If so we could all easily follow the same breaks. This will be fun. I think you can email a rough mix of what you have, then we can each record our track matching it on some basic softare, then email it back to you (or the one with the most knowledge of recording and best software) and then cut and past it all together.

I don't know, I'm getting there, the more I practice the better.

Please don't expect anything out of me, I just want to know what it feels like to have to do a project for someone else.

I'd at least like to do some sketches. I did a search on Asgard to see if I could find a description of it, but all I'm getting is really general stuff. At first I was thinking it was some castle, but I guess it's a whole separate world.

What's the Rainbow song that refers to it?

The problem with everyone working simultaneously is this. A song can take on many different shapes as all the parts come together. If we work at the same time some things may not mesh together well. They may fit perfectly, you never know. I just want everything to flow well. If we get ahead of the game it might not sound great and discourage everyone.

This is a very good point. The only way I have ever done this is piece by piece one at a time because of lack of bodies to fill the spots. But it's pretty wild how a guitar track comes to life after the bass line is layed down each part makes it what it is to become. Wink

I think it depends on how complicated the song is. Depends too on how nailed down your arrangement is when you send it to us. Of course if everyone gets on the stick it will go quickly either way.
