|
|
| I absolutely love Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules, and with great anticipation bought Dehumanizer, but was very disappointed by the mixdown or the mastering - not sure which. It was grainy and gutless, and I have to tweak the hell out my stereo to get it to not sound like crap. It sounds like a mixdown engineer who is not a producer mixed it to sound like flat EQ nomatter what system it's played on. I have a message for mixdown engineers - FLAT EQ SOUNDS LIKE CRAP!!! Could somebody please remix and remaster this album - it's got a lot of great tracks on it otherwise. (This is in contrast to the great production and sound of H&H and Mob Rules.) |

| Not sure what you're talking about. The Dehumanizer cd sounds excellent. Now Sacred Heart, that is an album that is very badly in need of remastering. Ditto Last In Line and Dream Evil, although they aren't as bad as Sacred Heart. |

D-Man,
A guy who posts here named Scot Clayton does a whole bunch of remastering. I bet he could improve upon the Dehumanizer CD for you. |

| All a matter of taste I guess. I do love the production on Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules. Their live sound was amazing when I heard them on tour in 82. Geezer had one of the best live bass sounds ever. |

LMAO the only stuff that he has done is orginal recordings that he then pirates all over the arrmo usenet group. he has stolen all of DIO's albums and given them away to suck up to the posers there. but i guess that artie likes those sort of jerks _________________

I have not received any of Mr. Calyton's remasters myself so I cannot say that he was trying to get into my good graces in that way. Apart from that I think Mr. Clayton is a fine fellow indeed and it is too bad if you are not on good terms with him. |

I take your meaning to be that you just prefer the way those two albums sound overall. Since they were recorded in the early 80s they reflect the technology and approach of that time. Dehumanizer has a different and louder and more brash approach. I like it for what it is but do prefer the first two releases to it.
It seems Ronnie continued with this type of sound with both Strange Highways and Angry Machines with even less success. Those two albums have some interesting stuff going on but are not as enjoyable for me as his albums with Vivian Campbell. |

| I just thought Dehumanizer was very dry - a little too brash. I'm looking to get a new copy of Holy Diver. That was a great album and well produced as I remember. My band in the 80's used to do Rainbow In The Dark which rocked. |

| I must say that I very much agree about the sound of Dehumanizer. The sound is one of the main things that prevented me from really getting into it. The songs are probably good, we know the band is fantastic. But it doesn't kick me in the head (in a good way) like Mob Rules does, and some of the effects used on Dio's vocals holds back the quality of his voice. So I really wouldn't mind a remix! |

I'm afraid I haven't picked it up yet. I only just now got around to buying Mob Rules. Please don't kick me out. _________________ Sit on it, Potsie. |

| I wonder if there are different versions of it? It's hard to believe anybody thinks the version I had sounded awesome. Maybe somebody realised it and already fixed the problem long ago, or my disc had a technical problem? All possible. I'll have to pick up a new copy and see. All this Dio talk is whetting my appetite for a few albums. Ebay here I come!!! |
