I recently watched the top twenty metal bands on VH1.
Bull, just bull
20 WASP-ok, but there could have been better
19 Quiet Riot-When the lead guitarist looks like a girl, well (unless it's Lita Ford/The Runaways  )
18 Twisted Sister-An honorable Choice, they should have been closer to ten.
17 Ratt, Hair Band
16 Skid Row-Ok I guess
15 Slayer-Thrash, I don't like thrash
14 can't recall
13-Def Leppard-Need I say why?
12-Poison-Not a Metal band A hair band. Metal is power Poison is a bunch of cross dressers who wanted to becomce girls
11-I stopped watching until # 9
10 Read above
9 DIO He should have been # 3 on the list.
8 Motorhead -They derserve it.
7I got bored and stopped watching (I think It was Ozzy, not as good as Dio) (THe Posion crap got to me)
6I can't recall I really hate Poison So I don't watch, I just fumed
5 Judas Priest-Okay
4-Black Sabbath-#1 #1 #1 No! The fathers of Metal don't get below anybody.
3 Iron Maiden-Metal, but not good enough.
2 AC/DC-To high on the charts
1 Metallica-They were not that good.
How I think it should have been
20 Van Halen
19 Ozzy Osbourne (W/ Randy Rhoads)
18 AC/DC
17 White Zombie
16 Metallica
15 Judas Priest
14 Led Zeppelin
13 Jimi Hendrix
12 Skid Row
11 Deep Purple
10 Motorhead
9 Guns n Roses
8 Twisted Sister
7 Rainbow
6 Alice in Chains
5 Black Sabbath feat. Tony Iommi (Seventh Star to TYR)
4 The Lovely Lita Ford
3 Dio
2 Alice Cooper
1 Black Sabbath (including Dio and Crossroads and Headless Cross, but not now. Ozzy's drugged vocals suck)

I don't think the list is that bad. Just have Metallica lower and put Iron Maiden top with Black Sabbath second. |

Thank You, at least somebosy gets my post.
The only thing I was really pissed off about is that VH1 Classic has tried to sell hair bands through putting them on Metal Mania, saying Poison was a great metal band, but where was G & R?
Yeah, it pisses me off.

i like your vigor...
but... when the top 100 Metal Songs came out...
it may of not been 100... but...
i could be wrong... but... Last In Line was... like ..38...
Holy Diver wasnt even mentioned...
we must realize... we are dealing with total loosers...
no other Dio song made the cut...
in the mag i looked at... yes... i got toatally pissed...
but...
all we can do... is to continue to request Dio music... on our local radio station...
try to keep the Dio Flame alive...
tell these loosers... yes...
we are Dio Fans...

[yawn] (not to mention that I counted 17 bands on the list that aren't even metal bands)
The thing I don't get is why do people go to the trouble of making lists like this anyway? Once we've seen one, we've seen them all, and after that it becomes the equivalent of a thirteen year old jabbering on about how each and every popular band is his favorite, just because everyone else likes it.
If only they'd include some new (read: deserving) choices on their lists, then at least it would help some metal fans get into some good metal other than the 30 or so songs/albums that VH1 harps on over and over again..

And as for the top forty metal songs...
WTF is with constantly putting Marilyn Manson ahead of Alice Cooper. Everything Marilyn does, Alice was there first, is this just a way to sell Manson's music to Cooper fans cos it aint working.
I should stop fuming like this. God knows I'm gonna have a heart attack one day

I would not get yourself so stressed about what a TV channel's viewers think....I wonder how many of them have been to a metal gig....TV and Metal...will never mix....the folks that I know who watch VH1 are not metal fans  |

Yes, I'm sure that Holy Magica only means the people that sit on their bottoms all day staring at VH1 or MTV.
I suppose that you are a metal fan. So, are you Black Metal fan (only saying cos your from Norway) or what?

I listen to all kinds of Metal, yes I like some of the Black Metal stuff, but its not the metal genre I listen the most to...
I listen to a lot of the traditional metal bands like Dio, Purple, Sabbath , Motorhead and so on, but I also like to explore other "genres". Doing so I hear a lot I don't like, but also a lot of bands I like.
Right now I'm listening a lot to Doom Metal bands,,, bands like Dark Quarterer, Pagan Altar, Trouble, Reverend Bizarre....and so on..
Also I've been listening more and more lately to bands/artists like Nightwish, Tristania, Draconian, Lana Lane....
But really, I listens to a lot of different types of Metal and Hard Rock....
But, my all time favourite band is, and probably always will be, is Rainbow.... |

| Sorry what I mean is VH1 in uk is crap....I forget we all get different versions around the world....VH1 here is always like U2,Madonna,Elton John its music for an old folks home!....gimme Scuzz TV or Kerrang anyday. |
