How about live at the Hammesmith from 1981?
I have a feeling that 5,000 copies aint going to be sitting around long. _________________ Spread your music not your wallet.

| I would have to say Holy Diver Live even though his vocals aren't as good as they used to be not much touches that |

Out of what I've got I think I'll vote for Holy Diver Live mainly because of the great setlist (Tarot Woman & Gates Of Babylon ). |

My vote goes to the Inferno-album, I just love the way Tracy G interprets the old Dio favs!
Number two has to be Holy Diver Live, as I was there at the Astoria myself. |

My vote goes to the Inferno because i think that was the best performance of Ronnie (as about DIO era)
Ok i like Sabbath and Rainbow live , but i cannot hear Ronnie singing live and do not sing songs like .... Rainbow in the Dark, Last in Line, We Rock, Holy Diver, etc...
Also on this album i think we have the best live edition of "Rainbow in the Dark" and definitely by far the best "We Rock" _________________ Video games are bad for you? That what they said about Rock 'n' Roll... |

Holy Diver live probably has the best set-list, but Ronnie's performance is undeniably weak on that one. Just listen to how great he sings Gypsy on the new years eve gig, and then compare it with the tired version on that show.
Inferno has a lot of good stuff, but we also have like an alternative version of Mob Rules, which I didn't enjoy so much.
On Stage is, like many have pointed out over the years, lacking something. The sound isn't great, and it doesn't have Stargazer. The shows recorded in Germany is much, much better.
Live Evil has it all. Great songs, FANTASTIC INCREDIBLE performance from Dio, and a great sound that still holds up. The only things that I skip are a couple of the Ozzy-era songs, Black Sabbath, Children Of The Grave and Paranoid. But I understand why they needed to be there.
I'd also like to point out the "We Rock" DVD as an unbelievable live source for Ronnie's incredible talent. Two great shows I watch ALL the time! Heaven and Hell on that 1984, with all the pyro effects, gives me goosebumps each time! |

If was not Tracy G on the Inferno album, do you think that it would be better album ?
I mean, Ronnie is in an excellent form and i also love the fact that in this live album we can here the audience so loud singing in some songs with Ronnie _________________ Video games are bad for you? That what they said about Rock 'n' Roll... |

I think it would have been MUCH better with EVERY other Dio-guitarist!
Tracy G never fits for the Band DIO.
He IS a good guitarist (you hear it on Catch the Rainbow ).
But he tried to give the songs his smell and destroyed the riffs(Holy Diver,Don´t talk to Strangers,...).He played wrong notes and strange rhythms. _________________ No more night-I´ve seen the light

I actaully don't mind his playing on the Inferno album, his style on studio albums is not my thing, but live he can sure shred. As for the classics, doesn't play them the best, but still decent. It's his era of material that truly shines, as does the entire band's performance. _________________

Ehm.. there's also a new album that is reviewed on allmusic.com Live in Düsseldorf. Is that a different album?
 |
Yeah, they are different concerts... in the last few months went out in stores three news Rainbow live albums... they are: Live In Koln; Live In Dusseldorf and Live In Nurnberg.
Personally, among these live albums I have only Live In Koln at the moment (it is a gift that I recived from my grandmother!) but as soon as I can I'll buy the other ones too!
Magic!

Live in Dusseldorf is the better one of these two.. Cant wait till Live in Nurnberg is released, hopefully soon....
But my favourite live album with Dio on vocals is Live Evil. Dusseldorf is second. |
I splurged and ordered the Jap box set with Koln, Dusseldorf and Nuremberg. Live In Germany also pulls from Munich and Manheim. Wonder if those will be released as separate shows eventually. |

Live in Music Hall (1992) with Sabbath.
Live in Germany (1976) with Rainbow is beautiful.
Also a big fan of Inferno. I love both Strange Highways and Angry Machines even more! Ronnie was a machine from 1992-1998.
I have many other bootlegs, but Ronnie was at his best 1976-1977, again from 1981-1982. Again from 1992-1997. Since then, it's been a gradual decline in his range, timing, energy, melody and power. Still love the man though! |
