Found this for you!
Rudy Sarzo (DIO, QUIET RIOT, WHITESNAKE) has slammed QUIET RIOT vocalist Kevin DuBrow over DuBrow's constant slagging of Sarzo in the press, claiming that it's "a real mystery" as to why the singer continues to bash him in interviews. In a recent chat with "The Classic Metal Show", Sarzo insisted that DuBrow consistently didn't show up for scheduled shows on the last tour featuring the band's most popular lineup of DuBrow, Sarzo, Frankie Banali (drums) and Carlos Cavazo (guitar). Dubbing the vocalist "No-Show DuBrow," Sarzo explained how they had to cancel seven gigs due to DuBrow's absence, were sued by one venue, and were losing money on the road. Sarzo further claimed that he has no idea why DuBrow hates him and regularly attacks him in the press. An excerpt from the interview follows:
The Classic Metal Show: We've interviewed the other guys in your former band before, and it seems like Kevin DuBrow always makes a point to bash on you. Why is that?
Rudy Sarzo: My question to you is, has he ever pinpointed why? Let's say, in a band…let's say that his anger toward anybody…I mean, did anybody screw his girlfriend? You know what I mean? Let me put it this way: Has he come up and said, "This is why I bash him!"
The Classic Metal Show: No.
Rudy Sarzo: …And you know what? I still don't know myself (laughing).
The Classic Metal Show: Seriously? You don't…
Rudy Sarzo: Yeah!
The Classic Metal Show: OK. Well, he did allude to…he was blowing off some steam and basically gave us the scoop that he has a big distaste for Spencer Proffer. I was just kidding with him. In fact, I had him on the show just a few weeks ago, and I said something about having you play bass on a new record with him, and he said, "I think Lucifer would be in the front of the line before he is." What does that mean?
Rudy Sarzo: Well, Lucifer would be the devil, right? I don't know (laughing). Your guess is as good as mine.
The Classic Metal Show: Well, Rudy, I've met you on several occasions, and you've always been a good dude to me – very friendly and very accommodating. We've always wondered why Kevin has such a hard-on for you.
Rudy Sarzo: It's a mystery, man. (laughing) I have no clue. It's becoming ridiculous proportions for him to have such anger toward someone. You know, you should be able to pinpoint why.
The Classic Metal Show: Well, he even went as far as to blame you for the breakup of QUIET RIOT three years ago.
Rudy Sarzo: Well, listen. He stopped showing up. He left us stranded at the airport seven times. By that, I mean that Frankie, Carlos and me would get to the final destination, and it would be "No-Show DuBrow." We just couldn't afford it. With that incarnation, we just couldn't afford to keep touring. It was impossible. We were losing money. You know, we had to pay for our flights. On one occasion in particular, we got sued and had to pay for a lawyer. Plus the loss of revenue from having to perform. Plus you had to pay your crew members, and pay for his airplane tickets. Pardon me, but at least I showed up.
The Classic Metal Show: Well, Rudy, what about this rumor with him where he says that you made them turn the bass way up and turn everybody else way down?
Rudy Sarzo: What is he talking about? I'm going to ask you a question. Have you ever heard anybody in any other band complain? Actually I've played longer and with more people than him, and in more bands. Have you ever heard anybody say anything about that? Honestly, I think we are spending way too much time talking about a subject that I, myself, have every little knowledge of. At the end of the day, I find this totally silly, and it's a real mystery.
"The Classic Metal Show" is heard live on Saturdays from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. EST online at www.theclassicmetalshow.com. The January 27 show will feature interviews with FIREWIND guitarist Gus G., SEVEN WITCHES guitarist Jack Frost and KISS vocalist Paul Stanley.

Thanks for the interview. There is no excuse for any musician EVER to miss shows, regardless of his personal problems with other members. Kevin's been in this business long enough and he should know better. Rudy's one of the best bassists in the business, and as many bands as he's played in he must be a nice guy to work with, otherwise he wouldn't keep getting hired. Who hires Kevin DuBrow to go on world tours? Nobody!
Keep Rockin' Rudy! You are one of the best hard rock bassists ever! (God forbid you should actually want to hear yourself in the onstage mix.) |

He is also very nice...I've never met him in person, but he-or at least someone with him-answered my myspace email. That shows that he cares about his fans. Cool guy...really hope to meet him some day after reading his bio. _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |

Pamela Moore — best known for her performance as Sister Mary on QUEENSRŸCHE's 1988 epic concept album "Operation: Mindcrime" and last year's epic sequel "Operation: Mindcrime II" — has signed on to provide the voice of Tooka, a character in the animated series "Rock Dawgz", which was co-created by the legendary hard rock/heavy metal bassist Rudy Sarzo (DIO, QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE). According to television producer Robbie Robfogel, who is developing the series alongside Sarzo, "Pamela told me she has always wanted to do a voice for a cartoon, and it is great that yet another rocker with such talent will be joining our cast."
Sarzo previously stated about "Rock Dawgz", "Animation is my passion. Robbie Robfogel and I have this animated series in development called 'Rock Dawgz', which is basically a parody of the rock 'n' roll '80s set in an animal world. There is a very fine line between rock 'n' roll musicians and animals, except where animals have unconditional love, a lot of musicians have unconditional hate! (laughs)"

Rudy Sarzo has issued a statement in response to a recent press release from Rudy's former QUIET RIOT bandmate Kevin DuBrow in which DuBrow explained the reasons behind his decision to withdraw his involvement in an upcoming documentary about late OZZY OSBOURNE/QUIET RIOT guitarist Randy Rhoads.
Said Sarzo: "In response to a recent press release from Kevin DuBrow, I'm compelled to address his statements regarding claims of inaccuracies in my book, 'Off the Rails', and towards an upcoming Randy Rhoads documentary now in production.
"I want to highly stress that Dakota Pictures' Randy Rhoads documentary that is being directed by Peter Margolis is not based on my book, 'Off the Rails', or any book for that matter. In no way is the film scripted. It is based on interviews from family members, childhood friends, former band members and fans who want to share their memories and express their feelings about Randy in this special tribute.
"The documentary's director, Peter Margolis, is an ex-student of Randy Rhoads. His life was truly influenced by Randy's music and friendship. The film has 100 percent support and participation of the Rhoads family, and from what I understand, Kelle Rhoads [Randy's brother] will be contributing to the soundtrack of the film.
"I sincerely hope that Kevin's animosity towards me, which he's been harboring for nearly 25 years, does not extend into this well-meaning project.
"In response to Mr. DuBrow's statement that my book is filled with inaccuracies, well, I have yet to see him back up his allegations. Besides, out of the 24 chapters in the book, there is only one that refers to my time with Randy in QUIET RIOT. The other 23 chapters are about my memories of Randy during my period in Ozzy's band."
A number of photos taken at Randy Rhoads's gravesite at the Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino, CA on March 19, 2007 to mark the 25th anniversary of Randy's passing have been posted online at this location.
With the blessings of the family of late OZZY OSBOURNE/QUIET RIOT guitarist Randy Rhoads, Dakota Pictures and director Peter Margolis began filming the "Randy Rhoads Documentary" on March 19 at the Mountain View Cemetery. In hopes to fully capture the significance of the 25th anniversary of Randy's passing, the filmmakers interviewed as many of Randy's fans as possible.

In 1982, Rhoads, the then-lead guitarist for OZZY OSBOURNE, and two others were killed at Flying Baron Estates, just outside Leesburg, Florida, when their small plane struck Osbourne's tour bus, then crashed into a mansion.

It's right, RUDY is one of the happiest bass-players in metal.
He has a lot of passion. He is a big plus for the group.
I wonder why he does not have a solo.... |

WEB EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: BASSIST RUDY SARZO ON OZZY, QUIET RIOT, AND RANDY RHOADS
Rudy Sarzo is one of the most respected bassists in heavy metal, having spent time with Ozzy Osbourne’s band, Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, Yngwie Malmsteen, and many others. His book, Off the Rails, is a memoir of playing in Osbourne’s band in the early ’80s, when he shared a stage with guitar legend Randy Rhoads. Rhoads died in a tragic plane crash in 1982, during the Diary of a Madman tour. With the release of this book, Sarzo has reached closure with his past and offered to speak with Revolver about his accomplishments and the time he spent with Rhoads.
REVOLVER You’ve played with some of the greatest guitarists of our time. What’s the secret to playing bass with a virtuoso guitar player?
RUDY SARZO My approach always is to be a part of the rhythm section, to lock in with the drums and the guitarist's rhythm playing. The bands I've played with—with the exception of Yngwie Malmsteem's—primarily showcase the vocals. In Yngwie's case, since he usually plays bass on the records and in most songs he usually doubles his guitar parts, I try to be the musical element that glues together the guitar and the drums.
Who was the hardest—and easiest—guitarist for you to play with?
That's an interesting question. The hardest situation that comes to mind was having to go back on tour after Randy Rhoads died in the plane crash with another guitar player. It wasn't because we didn't like Bernie Tormé, Randy's successor, musically or
personally. It was just that those were extremely difficult times for all of in the band to carry on with the tour without Randy. It took the wind out of our sails in more ways than one. At the end of the tour I had not other choice but to leave Ozzy's band.
And the easiest guitarist I've played with was Randy. You see, Randy was a guitar teacher and there was a certain clarity to his playing that made it very easy to follow. And if there was ever a part in a song that I had a problem grasping, he would take the time to show me.
You grew up in Cuba and emigrated to the US around age 11. What do you remember about living there?
My family left Cuba in 1961, right smack between the Bay of Pigs invasion and the October Missile Crisis. I was almost 11 years old. I remember clearly the way our lives changed when Cuba shifted towards Communism after Castro’s revolution. It’s hard to explain to anyone who’s never had their freedom taken away from them what's like to live under Communism, so I won't even go there.
When did you first pick up the bass and why?
I had been playing acoustic guitar for a bit when the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan. As soon as I saw the girls going nuts in the audience, I knew that’s what I wanted to do with my life.
Quiet Riot’s Metal Health is the first heavy-metal debut to reach No.1 on the Billboard charts. What was that like for you when you found out that you guys had hit that benchmark?
Metal Health was released in March 1983, and went to No. 1 in the Billboard charts in November. But for weeks before we reached the top, the album was stuck in the No. 2 position with Michael Jackson’s Thriller and the Police’s Synchronicity alternating over the No. 1 and No. 3 spot until we finally reached No. 1. We were Rockford, Illinois, on tour supporting Black Sabbath
when we got the news. Needless to say, we were ecstatic but also relieved that we had finally reached the top.
How did you feel about being credited as a performer on Quiet Riot II and Diary of a Madman, even though you didn’t record on those records?
One of the many things I wanted to clear and explain when I wrote Off the Rails, was how and why this happened. In the book I go into all the details. But in a nutshell, when it came time to do the photo session for both albums’ artwork, the other
members weren't in the band anymore. When I joined the Metal Health version of Quiet Riot, two songs had already been recorded and mixed before I joined the
band. So I made sure that Chuck Wright, the bassist who played in those songs, “Don't Want to Let You Go” and “Metal Health” got the proper credit. I'm not quite sure if the current CD artwork has all the original text and graphics from the original album release.
What’s your best Ozzy story?
Wow, there are so many. Off the top of my head, I was playing a fretless bass for almost a year when finally Ozzy, one night during the show, runs up to me and yells in my ear “Your bass doesn't have any bloody frets!” He thought somebody from the audience had nicked the frets during the show.
Kevin DuBrow, Quiet Riot’s recently deceased frontman, seems like he was full of wit and wisdom, from the interviews he did. What’s the sagest advice he ever gave you?
When I first got the call from Sharon to audition for Ozzy, I turned it down because I was content playing in the band Angel. So when Kevin, who I was living with at the time, heard I turned it down, he yelled at me and made me realize what a mistake I had made. So the next day when Ozzy called me back, I was ready to accept Ozzy’s invitation.
What’s your fondest memory of Randy Rhoads?
I got to know Randy not only as an incredible musician and composer but also as a music teacher. We both used to teach at Musonia, Randy’s mom’s music school. He really enjoyed teaching and as a matter of fact, if you take a look at any of Randy's
onstage photos you'll notice that the way he holds his guitar is like he's teaching the audience to play.
What ever happened to Randy’s guitar?
It's my understanding the Randy’s family have in their possession all of his equipment.
How do you spent each March 19 every year, the anniversary of Randy’s death?
I spent so much time with Randy, especially during the Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman tours, that I rather celebrate his life and his music than to dwell on his tragic death. One of the rewards I got from writing the book was closure. Once I finished the book I was finally able to say goodbye.
Was it hard reliving your friend’s death when writing it?
Chapter 18, which is the last chapter in the book where Randy’s alive, was the hardest to complete. It took me about a month to write it. I had spent over a year up until then writing the book with Randy alive in my head and I didn’t want to lose him
again.
What’s the best feedback that you’ve gotten on your book?
The feedback has been extremely positive, but just being able to share with everyone what it was like to play and spend time on the road with Randy is its own reward.
What’s next for you?I’m currently a member of Dio and Blue Öyster Cult. I’m also playing in a very unique band, Monster Circus. It’s a band composed of ’80s rock stars performing with a circus.
We just got signed by the Las Vegas Hilton and we’ll be performing at the Elvis Showroom beginning in March. I can’t wait.
