Any Fans of this band....I would like to know more....anyway just read this.....I would love to go to this show!
Texas doom legends SOLITUDE AETURNUS, San Diego female-fronted metallers BENEDICTUM and Belgium's up-and-coming death/doom metallers THURISAZ have been confirmed for Chicago Powerfest 2007. The fifth annual metal festival will take place on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21 at The Pearl Room in Mokena, IL.
SOLITUDE AETURNUS will be playing in support of their critically acclaimed new album, "Alone", and will be making their first Midwest performance in almost three years. BENEDICTUM, who are coming off their European tour with DORO, will be promoting their latest album, "Uncreation". THURISAZ, who recently completed a European tour with NOVEMBERS DOOM and AGALLOCH, will be making their U.S. debut.
Commented co-promoter and TWELFTH GATE bassist Rob Such: "While on my recent trip to Europe with friends NOVEMBERS DOOM, I was able to watch openers THURISAZ kick ass every night...and I really felt that they deserved a chance to leave the same lasting impression on this year's Powerfest audience just as they did on me & the audiences throughout Europe."
Current Powerfest lineup:
SOLITUDE AETURNUS
MARTYR
NOVEMBERS DOOM
BENEDICTUM
SHATTER MESSIAH
THURISAZ
The remaining four bands, which also include both headliners, will be announced in the upcoming weeks as they become confirmed. Ticket information will also be made available once the lineup is complete.

| I've decided to re-surface this topic, cause I'm trying to get into doom metal, as I am looking for something "different". I'm starting to get bored with my current collection. Maybe I'm sticking to one genre too much, and I think it's time for something new. SO, what are the best doom metal bands, albums, etc. to get? |

haha sorry, I was going to replay the first time you asked but then I forgot, curse my memory
My Dying Bride
http://www.myspace.com/mdbride
Album wise I have A Line of Deathless Kings, and The Dreadful Hours, both of which are great, but I've also heard that Songs of Darkness, Words of Light is another good album.
Draconian
http://www.myspace.com/draconianmusic
I don't personally own any pf their stuff, but I love what I've heard, and HM is quite the fan too.
Novembers Doom
http://www.myspace.com/novembersdoom
After My Dying Bride I'd say they're my favorite, they're kind of more aggressive, more of a death metal influence but they also have really nice songs too.
(Ex) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0oQ7ZOKTls
Shape of Despair
http://www.myspace.com/shapeofdespair
Don't really know much about them, they're on my list of bands to check out. Really slow and trudging.
Paradigma
http://www.myspace.com/trueparadigma
Same as above, I don't know much.
Fields of the Nephilim
http://www.myspace.com/fieldsofthenephilim
I don't know, but I read they helped influence some of the bands in the genre, so I'll put it down.
Paradise Lost
http://www.myspace.com/paradiselostuk
Their earlier stuff is, but they've kind of moved away from it I guess.
Swallow the Sun
http://www.myspace.com/swallowthesundoom
Most recently added to my list, I like them a lot.
on all the bands' buddy lists there are links to other bands, it's a great way to find new stuff. _________________ you put your hope into the sky

Metal Mind Productions will release SOLITUDE AETURNUS' first DVD, entitled "Hour of Despair", in Europe on July 2. MVD will issue the DVD in the U.S. on July 16.
"Hour of Despair" will include concert footage shot on February 12, 2007 at Stodola Club in Warsaw, Poland. The DVD will also feature an interview with John Perez and Robert Lowe as well as the "Live at On the Rocks 1992" and "Live at Joe's Garage Fall 1987" bonus video footage. A limited swing case edition, featuring a bonus CD containing the audio of the Warsaw concert, will also be made available.
Watch a preview clip of SOLITUDE AETURNUS performing the song "9th Day" at YouTube.
