*sigh*
You started on topic....you should quit while you're ahead!!!
Please try to stick, at least loosely, to the topic - we're all guilty of wandering a bit, but, this is way off!!
Get that topic I mentioned started for yourself. _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |

About the original question:
I wouldn't say it is "bad". On this album I found a few songs I love and this is enough. This may sound outrageous to some of you, but I prefer it to "Killing the Dragon".... So I guess it's worth having it. |

There is one song from this album I certainly love:
DON'T TELL THE KIDS |

| angry machine sufferedbecause of a cronic lack of touring in the uk especially 1 show on each of the 3 tours that tracy g did so. I was at all 3 so i know what i'm talking about. Tracy was never given a chance the same as the other guitar players. i know his soloing is like pluging your amp in and flinging your guitar downstairs but the songs are top notch as someone said try it you might like it. I'm going to put it on right now. You go do the same. NEIL |

I read there was a re-release of this album with DIO commenting on each song..Anyone here got it??
What does he say about it ? I mean,i remember some early interviews from when the album was first relesed. But later on he said the album was the worse DIO album ever.
I would find it quite funny if he wrote bad comments inside the cd booklet.. I mean, you get the album but when you get home and open it and read the booklet DIO tells you the album is crap..haha
would be interesting to know..I think i will try to get it anyway, since i only got the regular Angry Machine album. |

i only listened to this record once... and it was back in the '90s ...
if memory serves, i kept waiting for a guitar solo which never came...
the rhythm guitar parts sounded like - hardcore metal - like korn or something... i thought, 'oh he's trying to sound contemporary'...
so yeah, i like the more 'melodic metal' of yesteryear...
i couldn't even finish listening to 'angry machines'...
now, as i was listening i did think that the progressions were 'clever,' or 'difficult-to-play' from a rhythmic standpoint... so on some level at least, i respected the playing... but it just wasn't the sound i was looking for... |

As an album its o.k but its a bit of a mixed bag really, depending upon your tastes of course.
Personally I thinks its a fairly solid album with great musicianship for the most part and I also think Tracy G is very under rated which I feel is down to the fact that Dio took a new more modern approach and removed the wizards and rainbows from his lyrics.
But for me I think the direction was taken a little too far and some of the music seemed to be at odds with Dios voice a little. For me this band struck the perfect balance between old-school and new-school with Strange Highways which for me is the definitive album from this line-up.
I would rate this album 5/10 at this time and rank it above Sacred Heart. It isn't an essential album for me as the songs sound better live on the Dio's Inferno album anyway but it is still a worthwhile purchase none the less. |

Actually I didn't like "Angry Machines" at all. To be honest I liked just three songs: "Don't Tell The Kids", "This Is Your Life" and the Japanese bonus track "God Hates Heavy Metal" (I bought the Japanese version just for it!), I didn't like the rest. IMHO it's the worst DIO album ever, the only bad album of Dio! _________________ THEY CAN'T STOP US, LET 'EM TRY, FOR HEAVY METAL WE WILL DIE!

It's a GREAT album! Wouldn't it be a little borring if every album sounded the same? Doesn't it get a little borring listening to the same songs. Broaden your horizons and just buy the album lol.

I dislike the album not because it sounds different from classic DIO albums: I dislike this album 'cause its sound it's too much industrial... probably it's for guitar sound that I don't like that album. I hate Tracy G's work on that album, it's strange and it's in a style that I don't like. _________________ THEY CAN'T STOP US, LET 'EM TRY, FOR HEAVY METAL WE WILL DIE!

that's kind of what i was saying, too...
i was thinking, 'this could be difficult to play... so it sounds like the guitarist definitely has something going on... but i don't like it' |
