Reading from the booklet that goes with the DVD,I take it the interview with Dio was back in 1977,its funny how even Dio got it wrong about the future,

27 minutes inprovizations were common for progressive rock bands in the 1970's. ELP, Yes, Rush all did it. In concert, Rainbow was much more of a prog rock band than on their albums.

I read somewhere that Ritchie was arrested in Austria the day before this concert because he beat up a security guard (allegedly) and the cops refused to release him till late the following night, and this is why this show started so late in the evening.

Ronnie actually apologizes to the audience near the top of the show.

If anyone can confirm this story or add to it that would be great. It was just something I read very briefly.

Yes its true..., and as you may be able to see on the dvd a lot of the audience had to leave because of the delay, so they actually played to a lot smaller audience then they were supposed to...

There was another story about how Ritchie was smuggled out of Austria to do this show and he was taken back over the border after the show to do his time in the lock up but that story always seemed to be a little rediculous Very Happy I agree with what someone else said here about this being the best ever Rainbow gig with Ronnie at the helm.

It's a pity that the Houston show in 1976 was never officially filmed I believe that to be a very good show too.

I went to a Rainbow concert here in Australia way back in 1976 in Melbourne Festival Hall, that too was a brilliant concert with Ronnie in good voice and Ritchie was in an extremely rare good mood laughing and pouring beer and champaine over the front row of the audience, fantastic night.

The next morning Ritchie was back to normal, he did an interview with a local radio station and ended up smashing the interviewers microphone and walking out leaving Ronnie to do the explaining.

Ritchie had a big punch up with David Coverdale backstage in 1980 and I believe DC came off the worst.
