BBC News reports that Alice Cooper scooped the Living Legend award at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour event in London.
QUEEN guitarist Brian May presented the 58-year-old with the gong. A painting of the rocker, valued at £50,000, was also given to him.
QUEEN won two awards — Best Reissue for their album "A Night at the Opera" and the Classic Songwriter award, collected by Brian May and Roger Taylor.
DEF LEPPARD, IRON MAIDEN and the NEW YORK DOLLS were also winners.
DEF LEPPARD's "Hysteria" won the classic album award and the NEW YORK DOLLS won comeback of the year, although they were not at the ceremony.
The award for Album Of The Year went to IRON MAIDEN for "A Matter of Life and Death", and the band's manager Rod Smallwood took home the VIP award.
WHITESNAKE took awards for Band Of The Year as well as Best DVD.
The Event Of The Year award was given to the Monsters of Rock festival at Milton Keynes Bowl.
ROADSTAR took Best New Band, Phil Lynott won the Tommy Vance Inspiration Award and the Metal Guru award went to Ronnie James Dio from the band DIO.

I know for a fact.....folks from the Whitesnake board....vote sometimes 8 or 10 times....how sad is that. 
I still think the dvd is crap by Whitesnake.
Band of the year....again was becoz of massive votes from folks on there board.  |

This award says alot about Ronnie in my opinion firstly he is a teacher,a leader in Heavy Metal!!!
He's been a influential expert in songwriting for years and years and still performing to young and old fans,
I just want to say Thanx Ronnie and congratulations with the award. |

First off I don't understand Iron Maiden getting that award I love them but I felt like I got ripped off with there show if all your going to play is an album in it's entirerty make one of your classic like Ronnie did with HOLY DIVER not something new that no one knows.
Second WhiteSnake are you kidding me the only gfood thing about them is Doug and them ten fans they have must have spent alot of time voting

| ...Agreed Stargazer...Aldrich is Phenominal...but I dont believe that he was some kind of missing link for the band DIO...WhiteSnake has simply always been a premier band...anyway...Does anyone have a link to some footage of Ronnie accepting his award?...I'd love to see it...& Congradulations Ronnie! |

I don't blame maiden for wanting to play 'a matter of life and death' in its entirity..its simply an amazing album of which they are obviously very proud..every track is over 7 minutes...what value for money..!!!....its also refreshing to hear new stuff instead of playing all the nostalgic stuff over and over again...I can't wait for the MAIDEN UK tour...!! |
