LUTW is a great album, and nothing he has done since has been as good, though Magica comes close.
My Eyes is one of Ronnie's best vocal performances. I wish Ronnie would have stuck with Rowan as a guitarist and we could have avoided the whole Tracey G thang. |

LUTW is simply brilliant. The only Dio albums where Dio ever "lost his spark" were Strange Highways and Angry Machines. Every other Dio album is outstanding. _________________ Check out the world's only all-female tribute to Iron Maiden, The Iron Maidens

| No offense, but I can't stand LUTW. The guitars all seem out of tune, and the songwriting is losing it's edge. Dio sounds great here, but that's it. Despite all this, 'Born On The Sun' is one of my favorite Dio songs ever. |

Ah, first post...
About time, been a fan since 1980. Overall, I didn't like this album as much, though I play it more than Dream Evil. Different strokes for different folks I guess
Evil on Queen Street is my favorite. No idea really, maybe because it's different, being more blues based, something a bit different than what he did with the previous Dio albums, or maybe because the song title came from a name of a sandwich he saw while in a restaurant. |

for me, LUTW is a mood album, and roughly is 75/25 on my part. It all depends on how I feel on which songs fall under which category. _________________

LUTW is my least favorite album RJD sings on, not that it is awful, no, it does have some cool songs. The first three songs are the standouts I think, especially Wild One. The title track drags, and all other songs just aren't memorable, not the riffs, or the lyrics. Rowan Robertson is a good guitarrist, that i recognize, and RJDīs vocals are superb as usual, but there isnīt....I donīt know what, but something is missing on this album.
I would give the album a 60/100, and 5 extra points cause I love the cover. Those wolves look so evil _________________ Sleep with the devil and then you must pay...

I love this album, but it does have my least favorite Dio song of all time......"Evil on Queen Street".......well that and of course "Shoot Shoot" was no gem.
Someone posted that Evil was one of their favorite tracks. Perhaps I need to listen to it more?? |
It is so funny how different people's opinions can be. Evil on Queen Street is like my favorite Dio song right now. He sings it so strong it's like, "where did he get those lungs?" I love the heavy, bluesy guitar sound and I love the lyrics...
But I agree about "Shoot Shoot". These 2 songs are in no way in the same league, IMO.
I also love My Eyes. This song is so beautiful and could have been a big hit for Dio, but goes from a song that is really pleasing to the average, non-dio ear, to a song that only Dio fans would appreciate. I love the song because I love RJD's work, but you have to in order to get the lyrics after the first part of the song.
I know RJD isn't all about "hits", but it would be nice if there were some from after The Last in Line. None of their work is recognized on the radio which only results in no tour since 2004 , and me having to leave the f'ing country to see a show. _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |
