But did the boys sign away the right to use the name 'Black Sabbath' without Ozzy? I keep hearing that, but have never heard any proof.

The name Heaven&Hell is the part that I am the most doubtful about. Tony Iommi owns the name Black Sabbath. So I don't believe that legal difficulties part. I think that if they do a tour, it will be "Black Sabbath with Dio" or something like that.
The only thing that would make sense about that name is that it would feel uncomfortable for Dio and probably Bill Ward (and maybe others too) to be labelled as Sabbath. Dio has clearly said that he will not rejoin Sabbath. He doesn't want to disband DIO and become a permanent member of Black Sabbath for the third time. And Bill Ward thinks that "there is only one Sabbath, and that is with Ozzy".
And maybe Tony Iommi doesn't want to deal with the question "Is Ozzy fired from Black Sabbath". It is always a possibility that Ozzy changes his mind and wants to record another Sabbath album some day.
But all in all, I think there is some truth to this rumour. Joe Siegler who runs www.black-sabbath.com wrote on his news page:
"I wasn't planning on saying anything quite yet, but the fact that I keep getting emails has prompted me into saying something."
So it is clear that there is something going on. Would Siegler say something like that if he didn't have an idea that something was (probably) going to happen?

That would be a crazy thing to do...
But if they got enough $£...then maybe they would have done it.
So the box set maybe not be called Black Sabbath-The Dio years...
Seems very strange.......
I still think its a rumour...

There is something going on....but maybe its something to do with the boxset....what about the new Dio cd...?
Its not like Dio the band has nothing to do in the future...
I also believe that Bill Ward will be the last to know....
Simply becoz of his friendship with Ozzy.
Maybe the rumours are out of control becoz Dio and Tony want to do a solo project together...which has nothing to do with Dio or Sabbath  |

The box set is not a rumour, it's a fact. Dio the band are in the process of doing a new album, and that's also a fact. Tony Iommi has said that he is working on new solo stuff. Another fact. So how could these be the source of this rumour if they are openly known facts?

I believe the original members are all good friends now. And if they wanted Bill Ward to play on the tour, I don't think they would keep him in the dark about it!

Ok, that is a possibility. (Though I don't think it could be called a solo project as they would be collaborating) But it is just a guess of yours.

| I know the new cd and box set are fact....gimme me more credit than that ...what I mean is...studios being booked....things like that can create rumours....that are nothing more...than forward planning. |

Perhaps this is why the new box-set songs took so long. Perhaps they started to work together on them and realized that there was more going on. Kind of like Halford and Priest. Maybe the magic was there and they ran with it. It could explain what all the delay was about.
Goddamn it! Now I'M speculating and starting bogus rumors! Holy, chastize me right now!
