Weird. My background is dark greenish, so the blue looks fine.

I have this whole "wizard mojo" working, so I dont want to change the blue. You might be able to alter your settings in your profile to view the board in green hues?

It was in reference to the all caps shouting.

I would suggest Miss Misery by Nazareth (Hair of the Dog) to help end that witchin season.

I prefer the Tracy G "garbage" over Sacred Heart. Actually, I prefer every other DIO album over Sacred Heart.

The title track has a semi-epic quality about it, so it's probably my favorite from the album. Like the Beat of a Heart has that trademark DIO darkness that I like. Just Another Day starts off with a decent Judas Priest-ish guitar riff, but it quickly turns into a pop tune.

Most of the songs on this album sound like "cookie-cutter" rock radio anthems, in my opinion. It just doesnt sound like a metal album to me. Maybe that's why it is not universally loved by METAL fans?

Of course, I mean no offense to Ronnie James Dio. Mere opinions.

You have to step back a few feet and let your eyes unfocus ... HOLY SHIT I just saw Jesus. He is buying a taco from Elvis. No wait, Elvis just short changed Jesus and he threw the coins back down on the table. Elvis looks a little pale right now. That blue is trippy.

LOL, he did so on another board as well. I could have been a dreamer ... I could have posted in full sentences ... I really could have been a guy to use periods ... oh oh ah wah

It is funny how they think a new moniker will make others forget.

Anywho. I think a lot or some people bag on Sacred Heart because it was the most at the time commercial sounding album. HD went from raw pissed off over Sabbath to a more refined sound in LinL and then more commercial overall sounding SH. From my understanding that was a successful tour and I believe he was voted best stage that year. He came my way right as I went into the army so I missed that tour.

I like the album none the less. I think I like it more now than I did then. The same with Dream Evil. When I first heard it it seemed short. Not that it actually was. It just felt short. Perhaps the live audience track played for King of Rock N Roll. I don't really see that as cheesy as some have said in the past but see it simply for what the theme of the song is.

Now Ronnie had sacrificed some of his artistic integrity on each of the previous albums with tracks that were more radio orientated, Rainbow in the Dark and Mystery. I would imagine that the record company he was with, Warner, at the time pushed for those numbers. The former though was a collaboration of all 4 of them as well. While Vinny has stated that Mystery was Ronnie trying for a hit single or something to that affect. So for SH did he do that even more? I think some will say yes. So I would fathom that is why many may bag on it.

Now before those of you who decide to jump on me for having the balls to say he went against his artistic integrity need to step back. Integrity is sticking to ones own values. Integrity is not someone giving you what YOU want. Integrity is not some fan trying to rationalize that Ronnie's values are to please fans when in fact they are just being self centered. If his values are against commercialism and he makes consessions to that or appeases that then he is in fact sacrificing his artistic integrity. I am not saying the man is a shit. Simply that he is a man and he makes choices as he sees it fit for himself but when he changes his course for the sole event of others who bitch and whine that they want a duplicate of past efforts then he is once again placating and he is losing that artistic integrity he has.

My attitude has changed for all that he has done. It is his path not mine. His work is an expression of himself and I think it is sad when these artists try to placate the angrier voice of their fanbase and try to do a duplicate etc. So my appreciation for his work has matured. I see his work like the summer, fall, winter, and spring. Each different in many ways and I appreciate each for their own. I think it is sad when an artist feels like he has to look back at his work and bag on it because he has elements in his fanbase who do. That is truly sad and the death of an artist. I think it is sad to see him go from having such strong words over his work and the guitarist he chose to years later again appeasing those angry fans who want the same ol' same ol' and dismiss his own expression for how he felt at the time.

For that is why we love Holy Diver. It is raw. It is emotional. It is Ronnie expressing himself for how he felt at that time. That is what artists are. They do not take questions and answers to tell them how the next album should be. It comes from the gut and it comes from the heart.

For those reasons I appreciate Sacred Heart. Thank you Ronnie. Thank you for sharing.

I just got the album recently. The verdict? Just as good as Holy Diver, The Last in Line and Dream Evil, the other Dio albums I currently own.

I just can't understand the "criticisms" of this album. The lyrics are no cheesier than any other typical Dio album. Too keyboard heavy??? Has anyone hear heard Dream Evil???? That album is saturated with synths and I don't see anyone bashing that one.

Honestly, there is not one bad song on the album. It's one of the bands' most consistently good efforts, if not outstanding.

Sacred Heart is an excellent album, one of Dio's best. It's lighter, but the rock is still there. The title track is one of my favorite Dio songs.
