OK I just checked all the pages in General Chat and couldn't find a topic solely for Ozzy Osbourne, so here's one.
I'm getting tired of reading all the endless Ozzy-bashing that goes on here. He gets far more stick than any other artist/band/singer, and I think it's unjustified.
I'd like this to be a topic for discussing Ozzy as Ozzy. Not Sharon, The Osbournes, or any of the other crap that goes along with it. _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |

Yes, I will make jokes about Ozzy, because he made a joke of himself first. And yes, I will bitch about Sharon, because she made a bitch of herself first.
But ultimately, I will admit that I enjoy Ozzy's albums and I'm starting to get excited about the new one coming up. _________________ Sit on it, Potsie. |

Yeah, Ozzy's alright...I just bought the "Last Supper" DVD from the reunion tour yesterday. I rather enjoyed it, and there were a lot of how should I say "girls gone wild". |

I'm looking forward to the new album, and I've heard it's more of an Ozzy album than him being a hired singer as his past few releases appear to have been. We can only hope.
The fact that it is an Ozzy album however, usually points to quality - there haven't been many duff releases with his name on over the years.
I also hope it will lead to a solo tour, as I have yet to see Ozzy in concert in any form. I'd prefer a solo tour at this point because his solo tours have more variation in the setlists than the Sabbath ones. _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |

I love the old Ozzy material. I really thought his singing style was interesting on the older Black Sabbath albums. To me, their debut album is heavy metal in a nutshell. I even prefer Ozzy's singing of those old songs to Dio's singing. I suppose it's because the vocal melody on the old songs was more choppy and just didn't suit Dio's style, in my opinion.
Volume 4 is a masterpiece! That's my favorite Ozzy Sabbath album.
I also like his older solo albums. I liked his work up until The Ultimate Sin. I've seen him in concert three times with Zakk Wylde. Every show was worth the ticket price.
I just don't care for him now. Sadly, he just cannot sing like he used to and tends to put out music that sounds cliche and trendy to me. _________________ "ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA" TOUR DATES: http://www.zappa.com/zpz/tourdates.html

I think it's brutal when a guy is bashed for getting old and showing the price of a life of partying. It seems no matter what you do before it means nothing to most people once you give in to the process of old age. I find the guy to quite funny and would love to party with him some time. _________________ GUITARGOD |

What information do you base that on? He had a drug and booz problem but wasn't stammering around like now, he was just wild as if any of us here could say any different. I've never been that big of a fan of Ozzy but he's played his part in the music world. _________________ GUITARGOD |

...To say the least G God!...people need to step the F**K off Ozzy...he paved the way...along with Ronnie...his personal life has NOTHING to do with his music!...I dont like the way that Ozzy receives more recognition than Ronnie...that much is ridiculous...but the Guy helped create some of the most phenominal Heavy Metal songs of ALL TIME!...Anybody that tries to dis-credit that is just being a jealous asshole!... |

Ozzt rocks.Plain and simple.Well,he did.Until he wrote with Steve Vai. Great guitarist, just not a great Ozzy guitarist. After that, things got heavily cliched.
He was looking for a guitarist to cowrite with him,but never heard more than that.IMMO,Zakk's pinch harmonics are getting way too gimicky and writing for two bands has got to leave the riff library a little thin.
I'm not knocking anyone,I just feel that Oz needs some fresh blood in the mix.He has brought some fantastic young talent to the spotlight, and he needs to continue this...
Sure,he's old. He's worked as hard as he partied.Crazy Train is why I play guitar, but I will have to hear a few songs off the new disc before I buy it. _________________ http://ladyrock.informe.com/ |
