The Sentinel:

In the early days of Dio even tho keyboards palyed a major part of the music, what was behind the decision to keep Claude Schnel "on the side-lines" Question

Thank you.

My question to Ronnie is as follows :-
In the summer of 1981 (I think) Sabbath were booked to headline the Heavy Metal Holocaust festival ,Port Vale football ground England.with Motorhead second on the Bill.A few weeks before the festival Sabbath pulled out leaving Motorhead as headliner.Blizzard of Oz were drafted in as Special guests. The official reason given at the time was that more time was needed in America on The Mob Rules album production but there was a rumour that Sabbath were afraid of being blown off by Motorhead who were at their peak at the time.
Which version is the truth ?
PS sorry for taxing your memory here.

Ronnie: What is your approach to writing a song? Do the lyrics come first? the melody? You once said Neon Knights was written over a bottle. Does that intend that it was written in just a couple of hours?

Hi Ronnie,

There are many forms of success. Aside from a commercial perspective, what would you consider your greatest milestone?

Take care and all the best,

KEN

...my questions for the rest of the band, particuarly Craig...is How did you guys obtain the gig with DIO?...I know what Simon was doing...what made you decide to leave AC/DC???...as for Craig...how were you Introduced?...were you chosen or did you go seeking the spotlight with Ronnie?...& then Rudy...you've had the most Illustrious career of all...did you receive a phone call or what?...just curious how these things take place...That being said...I also have to ask...what is YOUR favorite DIO songs to perform???...I know everyone will be interested to know this because of all the "polls" created at this site...I know that Ronnie has a huge catalouge to choose from...so what would you guys say are also the most "challenging" songs to perform???

Voice of Reason:

Question for Ronnie:

How do you select songs for your set list? What factors play into your decision? Does the band help you choose the songs?

bildo asks:

Somebody mentioned that you would like to see a Magica movie but don't know if that's viable. Would you ever consider an animated film, along the lines of 'Heavy Metal?'

bildo also asks:

My friend says Jack Black smells like burritos. Is this true?

Anne-Maria - I would ask to ask Ronnie James Dio if he could marry me...? No, that probably won't happen, so here is the real question;
Music must mean so much to You. Have you ever think where would you be now without music? What would you do if you weren't a musician? Have you ever thought after a bad day something like "Oh, I wish I wasn't one of the greatest heavy metal singer of all the time"? Wink

Thank you for visiting Finland so often (not often enough, though) and thanks for being a great inspiration. Love you.

Simon - Hi Ronnie, just a quick question, I wanted to know what you thought about touring the UK at smaller venues last time around. I had the fortune to see you at Exeter University (reminded me a lot of my old school hall), where you blew us away, the whole band seemed to be having an amazing time! Can we expect something similar next time (he says hoping for a next time!) - I love the intimacy, something missing from gigs where bands co-headline to put bums on seats in arenas.

All the best, Simon.

Will we ever see a Dio career retrospective of all the promotional video's released on DVD? It would be cool to see some of those hard to find classics again...

oh, I've seen this topic in time! so...

My name is Suzanna, I'm DIO fan from Kiev, and I'd like to ask Ronnie about his creative process. What can influence to creating new song? What can be the source of inspiration? And how does Ronnie wrestle with creative crisis?

and I also would like to thank Ronnie Smile

Sebastian Sandvik - I would like to ask what your thoughts were when you wrote "The Man Who Would Be King"?. I'd also like to ask you what you think of the future scene of heavy/power metal? And how do you feel about the Tenacious D movie?

And thank you for the show at Miljoonarock! You made Lordi and Billy Idol look like amateur hour.

What do you consider your greatest achievement (in music and in life)? What is your biggest regret?

We have many questions but these two are the ones we think most people would benfit by. Ronnie is a very wise person with a lot of life experience and quite eloquent. The answers should be fascinating.

Hi Ronnie!
My name is Wolfgang.
My question:Why not a Dvd-box with ALL Promo Videos and unreleased live-videos of all bands you´ve been in?
I´m shure the Munich 77 Dvd sells very well!
Annother idea:A couple of shows,one with Rainbow-stuff,one with Sabbath-stuff and-of course-one with DIO-stuff for a 32 yaers of DIO 3DVD-set?
