| Many people seem to think sacred heart is ronnie's worst lp (i give that honour to the god awful strange highways.....thanks for trying ronnie, but tracy g is a poor replacement for iommi, blackmore and even campbell) Ronnie seems to dismiss the album as well, as he doesn't play any songs from it on his few recent tours. But i think sacred heart is a great album for what it is. I mean, the music is really good, it's just a little less on the heavy side, save for the king of rock and roll and the title track. What do you guys think? . |

I think Ronnie thinks its an overlooked album. I know he played Rock n Roll Children on the 2004 tour (before the holy diver live tour) cuz i have a video of it _________________ Check out the world's only all-female tribute to Iron Maiden, The Iron Maidens

Personally I really like Sacred Heart. Shoot Shoot is a bit weak, and perhaps Just Another Day is a bit forgetful (on fact I can't remember how it goes!!) but 2 slightly weak tracks don't make a bad album. The title track is one of my favourite Dio songs. It's definately unfairly treated. _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |

Hungry for Heaven, Rock n roll Children and the title track are great tunes.
I think the expectations were so high for Sacred Heart. The band had made two perfect records and the fans wanted something that would top Holy Diver and LIL. |

What I can say about the album Sacred Heart is that it's one of the best Dio albums and definitely one of the dearest heavy rock albums for me in general. Beautiful songs, awesome cover art, one of the quintessential albums of the 80's.
I revere the following songs especially:
KING OF ROCK 'N' ROLL
--> a true rocker, the opener of my very first Dio show on 18.07.2004
SACRED HEART
--> the flamboyant and powerful title anthem, how I wish to hear this live...
ROCK 'N' ROLL CHILDREN
--> The most important song of this album, for RJD himself and for me as well...One of the first songs I've ever heard from Dio (nr. 7), I definitely love this one and yearn to hear it live someday...
HUNGRY FOR HEAVEN
--> a load of heavy rock energy, containing some of the best Dio lyrics for me... _________________ HEAVY FUCKING METAL!!! |

The track Sacred Heart must be resurrected live. Fans would go crazy with joy and surprise. It is one of the best songs Ronnie ever recorded. Ricght up there with H&H, HD and LiL.
And the album is not that bad ether ... |

I think Dio might have played King of Rock n Roll at the Argentina show a little bit ago, i just downloaded this file and he does sound similar to how he sounds on evil or divine and holy diver live. the quality is great, ill try and upload later _________________ Check out the world's only all-female tribute to Iron Maiden, The Iron Maidens

"Sacred Heart" is my least favorite Dio album. This has less to do with songwriting than of the sound and style of the times. I disliked so much of what metal in general was doing in the 80s (I was a child of 70s metal), and I thought Sacred Heart reflected that softer, cheesier sound that was "in" then.
My guess is that if Ronnie recorded and released those songs as "new" right now, they'd have a heavier, harder edge, and thus my opinion would be more favorable. |

Two different albums, two different sounds, two different styles. And, please, don't call an album "garbage" just because you don't like it. As Rhino wrote, he wasn't exactly into the cheesy tunes of the 80's, and that's it.
Personally, SH was a huge disappointment to me after the first two albums, but now I seem to like it more than I did. This album is not as good as the previous two, but it's OK. Overall: an average Dio stuff. |
