I NEVER liked the Strat tone...give me a Les Paul (or better yet, an Explorer), and a Tube Marshall, NO effects, and you can play Metal until the end of time!
...a Strat takes a bit of tweaking to sound heavy, it's ok for lighter rock, country, etc..
.....ok...now, bring on the 'slams'! _________________ Calcitra Clunis |

These two guitars have different purposes. Les Paul is great for rhythm. It has a nice phat solid sound. Lead is good but the tone is thick and can get buried if the music is busy. Strat is fair for rhythm but great for lead. The tone is sharp. It cuts through.
Yngwie for example, the rhythm I find is weak. I don`t know why he doesn`t see it that way. I nice Les Paul would carry the rhythm work, sustaining the chords nice with the Strat. |

Well, usually Gibson is for blues while Fender is for rock'n'roll, rock and metal, too. Anyway, Jimmy Page (for example) plays a Gibson, Vivian Campbell plays a gibson (both for his new solo album and for his album with Def Leppard) but when he was with Dio played a Fender. Blackmore, instead, has always played a Fender...
Personally, I prefer "Fender Stratocaster" to "Gibson Les Paul". |

vivian played a Jackson with Dio. A Jackson Guitar is heavy metal. Jackson has a lot of Gisbson qualities. The shredding is for sure Jackson. Theres no getting that sound out of a standard fender. Where did you get the idea he used a Fender?

| Campbell plays Gibson guitars. He recorded with Gibson and Jackson with Dio. Any pic you see with Dio, he playing a Jackson/Charvel. Charvel and Jackson are the same company. |

I like the Strat better on the whole . It's a bit more comfortable
and not as heavy as a L. Paul . I think Gibsons are great for heavy riffs but not for speed licks . I find a Strat with a bridge Humbucking
pixkup works fine . |

| Ya Les Pauls are heavy. The SG is pretty much the the same guitar with a lighter body. One is maple, the other is mahogany |

Understood!
I just aquired several more guitars....the black Les is a Custom, as well as the Subburst one...VERY nice axes, but I actually like the Black Warlock for tone, playability, etc.
