I apologize if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but what do you think of the jazzed up version of Holy Diver that Pat Boone put out a few years back on his "metal" covers album? Does it infuriate you, amuse you, or do you feel a little guilty because you secretly enjoy it?
Also, is it true that Ronnie was involved when Boone recorded it? If so, he has a pretty good sense of humor. _________________ Sit on it, Potsie. |

... ...they should have named him Pat Buffoon... ...I'm sure he's a nice guy...but this fool succeeded in portraying Metal as foolishness!!!...& with alot of help from Metal's OWN I might add... ...the REAL Metal acts got heaped into this category, along with all of these "FRUITCAKES"... |

A little off topic, but a bluegrass tribute to DIO would be cool for me. One of my favorite albums of all time is the bluegrass tribute to Boston. Anybody hear that one? _________________ Sit on it, Potsie. |

Haven't heard it. But c'mon! You just gotta laugh! Anyone who gets pissy about that stuff just needs to lighten up and get a life. |

... ...I half heartedly agree with you Rhino...However, if you look at concert attendence & sales of Heavy Metal acts these days...it's apparent that people became dis-illusioned & even embarrassed by some of the foolish antics of bands that essentially came across looking like FruitLoops... |

True, Bobby. But ya can't blame Pat Boone! That fucker's been covering hits since Little Richard!
The problem I see, is that every genre starts out as subcultural (and often times counterculteral) expression. It's when it gets accepted by the masses via the media, then the record labels create markets based on STYLE, not SUBSTANCE. And the suckers buy it up. It happened to the punk movement (turned into cheesy new wave), and heavy metal (turned into that hairband thing in the 80s). The media and record labels ruined grunge that way.
Shit, you already knew all this!! Your damn near my age! |

Dolly Parton did an album of covers a little ways back. I wish she would have done Strange Highways! _________________ Sit on it, Potsie. |

Going to the opposite end of the spectrum, what song would you like to hear Ronnie do a cover of? A song, perhaps, that might seem like a strange choice?
I vote for When You Wish Upon A Star. _________________ Sit on it, Potsie. |

Good question, Bilbo.
