Hey, are you crazy? How can you even think of making us choose between those two bands?
I refuse to pick one of them before the another. They are two of the three greatest bands ever, with the best singer ever. I would go insane trying to figure out which of them I like best, so I won't. I'll just pretend I never saw this question and just live on in my own world, not worrying about which I like the best! |

Rainbow. Black Sabbath IS my favourite album, and Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are both awesome, but there's just nothing that can beat Rainbow's "Long Live Rock N Roll" _________________ This post probably sucked. Sorry about that. |

I think Rainbow with Dio is much better then Black Sabbath with Dio. heaven & Hell and Mob rules are good albums, but Rising and Long live rock 'n' roll are much better! _________________ See the stars come falling down from the sky

Gosh this is tuff, you see I Love Rainbow, Rainbow for me is very romantic & has that touch of darkness that is just right is how Dio comes across for me. I Love Black Sabbath, Black Sabbath has that darkness that kicks with the romance that comes in out of no where that Ronnie does so well. So in this light, it really depends on how I feel. _________________ Jesus saith unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

This is an incredibly tough decision to make, but after careful consideration I have come to a conclusion.
Heaven And Hell is my favorite album of all time.
Richie Blackmore is my favorite guitarist of all time.
Ronnie James Dio is my favorite singer of all time.
See how tough it is?
Taking all those things into account, I'd have to say Dio with Rainbow is better for a couple of reasons.
While Heaven And Hell is a perfect album in my opinion, Mob Rules lacked something. I put it down to the absence of Bill Ward on drums - but that's not detracting in any way from Vinnie Appice's work.
It just didn't feel like a Sabbath album to me.
Dehumanizer was a good reunion record, but that's all it was - a reunion. It was never going to lead anywhere and I think the tension between the band shows slightly.
Dio's three studio albums with Rainbow however, were consistently high quality, and the two live albums rank up there alongside Iron Maiden's Live After Death and Judas Priest's Unleashed In The East.
Rainbow Rising is destined to be one of the classics next to Led Zeppelin IV and Deep Purple's Machine Head, and Man On The Silver Mountain can easily be uttered in the same breath as Smoke On The Water and War Pigs.
A tough decision indeed, but when it came down to it, Richie Blackmore was the deciding factor.

| Bobby 66, if you check out the Blackmore's Night website you will find that Richie is still shifting a lot of cd's to a new audience these days and seems to be enjoying it. And lets face it, if it was down to a choice between working with Ronnie or the lovely Candice who would you choose? |

Rainbow. Although I love Dio era Sabs, they are quite different styles of music. Rainbow is more melodic and mellifluous and Ronnie will just always be the man with the rainbows to me; Rainbow fits him like a gauntlet. Sabbath showed his darker side. But I still love Sabbath. Oh yeah, if you're put off by Ronnie singing Ozzy songs, he does them better. Listen to Iron Man - that's how it should be; gruff and growling! And Blackmore is THE guitarist. End of discussion.
Best Rainbow:
Man on the Silver Mountain
Catch the Rainbow (my favourite)
Temple of the King
Kill the King
Tarot Woman
Stargazer
Light in the Black
Gates of Babylon
Best Sabbath:
Neon Knights
Heaven and Hell
Wishing Well
Die Young
Sign of the Southern Cross
Country Girl
Falling Off the Edge of the World _________________ Y Ddraig Goch

| I definitley side with sabbath. I have said before that I am not a Blcackmore fan, but I do get a lot of Rainbow for one obvious reason... Not to knock Blackmore or anything, I just believe that he leaves a little to be desired. Dio and Sabbath were about as perfect fit for each other. I think that Dio and Sabbath were on the same page, while Blackmore was headed in a different direction. I think that Dio takes it with him. I believe that he has it in him to play well despite what band plays behind him... |

The greatest guitarist in the world (my opinion of course), Ritchie Blackmore vs. one of the creators of metal, Tony Iommi.
I have to go with Rainbow, even though Heaven and Hell and Children of the Sea are some of the most important songs in my life, I choose Rainbow. |

Definitely Rainbow! It's the band thanks to which I started to love this kind of music. So no matter what they are the best |

| Wow... Thats a MF'er... I remeber when I first put on H&H when it first came out and I set it on my turntable (yes I am old) and I didn't know what to expect and I was blown away, but I think after some hard thinking, I'll have to go with Rainbow. I grew up with it and actually still listen to Dio era Rainbow more that the Dio era Sabbath albums. |
