I think in Ronnie's case he's needs a guitarist alongside that as well as being a great player also needs to get his back up enough to become creative. Ronnie is at his best when he is sort of angry with life or with someone. IOMMI and BLACKMORE were perfect for Ronnie and CAMPBELL was to,they provoked creativeness out of each other. Durinig Ronnies bad spell, LUTW and angry machines etc he had players who did'nt stir his emotions (tracy g, robertson) they were plodders and Ronnie just plodded in a way with them. I hav'ent made my mind up about goldy yet and where Ronnie stands with him, I think they do work well together but goldy dos'ent seem to give Ronnie the push that he often needs. Aldrich did IMO, there looked some atmosphere between them, some negative stuff that usually brings positive out of Ronnie. So i don't think Ronnie has failed to achieve as such since his sabbath, rainbow days, more he has'nt always found the right members to create with.

I have this desease where when someone has something bad to say about Dio I get defensive for him.

nothin' personal Wink

As long as there's some fool with something bad to say 'bout Dio I just lose it Cool

I will continue to do so, I think you would agree, great rivalries are what keeps peeps on the edge of their seats.

Let's give 'em a show \m/

NeonKnight2, where are you going with all this? Yeah, leaving Sabbath over stupid accusations is, well....stupid, but unless staying in Sabbath would have eventually produced all of Dio's best songs and Sabbath's songs to follow (it wouldn't have), how can you say "bigger and better things" didn't happen? Dio tried it again with Tony and the same damn Mob Rules lineup and it just didn't happen.

I think its plain and simple that Tony, Ritchie, Viv and every other guitarist can't be wrong: Ronnie is TOO HARD to work with.

I believe the majority of the public only is interested in the "image" that a band portrays...instead of listening to the music...I could give several examples...but I will be nice today... Wink They go from one to the next searching for who they "wannabe" ...Ronnies music has allways been consistent to me...It just fuckin ROCKS!!! Granted...some of the musicians he has worked with are were better than others...I have my favorites...but love it all...

Dio - I think we can all agree, he hasn't progressed beyond Last in Line. Oh, he has spun off a good record here and there but it has been a real pain not to mention completely inconsistant.

there, i disagree. He has progressed, look at magica and Killing the Dragon. two very good albums after LIL. as for inconsistencies, name one band who's been goin for 20 years and EVERY record or EVERY OTHER one has been completely excellent.

The rift in Sabbath may have been finally over mixing an album but it was really over lyrics and that had to do with Ronnie and Geezer.

So I presume that Ian Gillan wrote lyrics that Geezer didn't mind? Ian didn't take the job seriously, even though his vocal performance aint too bad on 'Born again' or on a few bootlegs I have. If he didn't take the job seriously why didn't Geezer say 'Hey Ian, I'll write these for you'

Or did Geezer write them anyway and Ian gets only credits for his melodies??

The mind boggles Laughing

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!look at Ritchie Blackmore he's already done it all and now he's doing what he wants to do!!!Hasn't progressed he's gone to the music that he really likes. However granted it doesn't always sound like what we like.I would love to see Rainbow with Dio and maybe we still might.Black Sabbath have had some great albums after Dio and Ozzy just not as successful!!All the artists have always had the most professional players that they can have MOREON THIS LATER Cool Twisted Evil

You may be right, but i've seen people work themselves out of this low before. Let's face it Ozzy is too far gone, the poor man can barely talk anymore. Metallica will never be the same again, nor Def Leppard, or many other bands.
But then you have Bands like AC/DC. Losing Bon Scott was an amazing loss, but then they got back up and recorded Back in Black and it kicked ass!
And the Scorpions, it seems like they started losing steam after face the heat, but then about ten years later they release Unbreakable. Bam!!! A near perfect album! I can't say i've seem too many bands recover, but there's always hope.

Really I am confused with this post. And I agree with Big Brother, if you are saying something bad about Ronnie, a lot of people here would get angry.

I don't know if you are or not making people mad, but I don't understand your post.

Ronnie has progressed in my opinion in great ways.

edgeoftheworld. Very Happy
