Guess I'm in the minority here, but I've got to cast my lot with Long Live Rock and Roll. It's the most consistant and deepest of the three studio masterpieces Ritchie and Ronnie collaborated on...seeing Gates of Babylon the other night in Phoenix was just awesome. It's just a breathtaking track. In regards to another thread, Rainbow Eyes is definately the best ballad Dio has ever performed.

I think that all three albums with Ronnie in rainbow are Great.

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow is great with Man On the Silver MOuntain, Temple Od The King and catch The Rainbow.

Rising is Great with Starstruck, Run With The Wolf, and the best Rock song ever - STARGAZER.

Long Live Rock 'N' Roll is Great With it's Title Song, The Gates Of Babylon, Lady Of The Lake, Kill The King, and the best Ballad - Rainbow Eyes.

So which is better? Difficult Question.... But I voted for Long Live...

Long Live Rock 'N' Roll!! Full of legendary hard rock power and ends with most touching song, "Rainbow Eyes".

Tough choice, cause I think all Rainbow albums are amazing. But I'd still have to go with Rising cause it contains the BEST track of all time... STARGAZER.

"Live in Germany 1976" is the absolutely best, but if we're talking only studio, albums it's "Rising".

And I'd like add that "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" is a much better album than it has been credited for. The medieval inspirated tracks are just great... And just listen to the Ritchie's guitar sound!

Let's make a "Favorites" chart and see what happens...

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow
Man On The Silver Mountain 4/5
Catch The Rainbow 3/5
Snake Charmer 3/5
Temple Of The King 5/5
Sixteenth Century Greensleeves 4/5
Total 19

Rainbow Rising
Tarot Woman 4/5
Run With The Wolf 4/5
Starstruck 3/5
Stargazer 6/5
Light In The Black 4/5
Total 21

Long Live Rock And Roll
Lady Of The Lake 3/5
Gates Of Babylon 5/5
L.A. Connection 3/5
The Shed 4/5
Rainbow Eyes 5/5
Total 20

So even with far fewer tracks, Rainbow Rising gets the most favorite points from me.

The three are masterpieces. But which is the best? For me it depends the day. Today, it is RISING

I really love Rising but I had to vote for RB's Rainbow as it has my all time favorite song on it. "The Temple of the King."
