Check out Jingle Bells by Al Diamond Phillips For the socond post of the season, I decided to go back to the song that started it all.I originally recorded this for a Cd that was a Christmas gift to my Mother in Law. I received such a good response from that CD, especially this song, that within a few years the Christmas show was created so I would have a chance to perform those songs. Hope everyone enjoys www.reverbnation.com/aldiamondphillips

It is a little known fact, but after Joey Bowen left DC Drive, I talked with Michael Romeo, and Brian Pastoria about auditioning for the spot in the band. At the time I chose to go on the roa
d with Angel Blaze, which later became Groovetribe. I have always cherished the memories of my time on the road with Groovetribe, but have always wondered how it would have turned out if I had auditioned for DC Drive. I guess I will never know, but here is what it sounds like when I did DC Drives version of Run Run Rudolph Live at my Christmas Show! They had another Christmas song which I also did, but there are some problems with the music. I'll see if I cant fix it up a bit and get it posted.

in the early 90's I played with an incredible group of musicians, in the band TRYTON, it was my first band with guys in Detroit, up to this point I had only played with people from the area I grew up in, and this would be the band that moved me into the city to be part of. David Neil Cline Was a local legend on Guitar, JD Donnelly was hands down the best Metal Bass Player I have ever known, and when we found Todd, it was the final piece of a big puzzle of Awesome! The six song Demo FTW was recorded on a Fostex 1/4 inch 8 track reel to reel. The transferred to cassette, yep we still used those back then. I converted it to CD, so it still has some background noise, but overall its not too bad. This was a Great band in a time when great bands didnt get noticed in Detroit, I hope you enjoy. www.reverbnation.com/aldiamondphillips

I have been looking for the opportunity to bring some of the songs that I wrote with Bryan L Johnson to people in a positive way. The opportunity to join forces with the #1 Rock N Roll Cancer foundation ( Love Hope Strength)makes this really special for me. Yes the songs will be a little more expesive to download, but the good that will come from it outways that cost. Please share this link with your friends list, and help make a difference. The song Best Time (of my life) is now available

I met Bryan while I was in Jesus Christ Superstar, He found me online and wanted me to sing for his band. I wasnt interested in singing for a band, so I kind of just ignored his request. Then one day I got an mp3 of an instrumental he called Spanish Suite Interlude, and I was blown away. So I got back with him and told him I would not sing for a band, but I was having fun in JCS and would consider writing a Rock Opera. Spanish Suite Interlude became Eyes of Passion, and the first recorded song for Curse of the Pharaoh. after about 6 months of working on the Rock Opera and recording 8 tracks (7 songs and 1 dialogue piece) Bryan and I disagreed a bit on direction which lead to a blow ourt argument, and I walked away not seeing or hearing from him for another 6 months, when miraculously he sent another song I couldnt ignore. This song would become Down. I tried to let the Rock Opera rest and do something we could possibly play live in a club. We called the newly formed project Broken Down Tomorrow, and recorded 5 songs - Broken, Down, Tomorrow, Worthless, Today (Worthless was never quite finished enough to do anything with. Around the time we were recording this we touched on some other styles that were intended for female singers one called Touch Me comes to mind right off hand. but as were doing this Bryan started to feel he was too old to be writing Metal, and wanted to shift gears So we decided to write some songs in more of a Southern Rock vein. We named that project Osper King after my Great Uncle in Kentucky. The songs Best Time (of my life), Long Road Home, Whiskey Woman Freedom, Equal, Lord I know, & Hard as the Day is Long were in those sessions. It was shortly after that, that we parted ways he went on to play in a Led Zep tribute band, and I started Nevermet. I have about a dozen unfinished songs as well. I actually just sent Scott Connor from Nevermet a guitar track that I found and had forgot about

Eyes of Passion is now up and available to stream or purchase. This is the song that started it all for Bryan and Me, Its a little theatrical as far as the vocals go, but it was the first song written for a Rock Opera www.reverbnation.com/aldiamondphillips

Check out Darkwave it was the second song recorded for the Rock Opera Aleon's, Curse of the Pharaoh. This one was originally written by Bryan L Johnson and the Bass Player at the time Mike Dolsen. I do get a co-write because I changed the lyirics and the melody slighty to fit the Rock Opera, and my vocal style. I cant sell this one though because I havent talked to Mike since 2003, so that just wouldnt be right. Hope you like it though. http://www.reverbnation.com/eplay/artist_2875105

Okay, so over the years I have talked about this Rock Opera, that Bryan L Johnson and I were writing but never finished. But maybe everyone doesnt get the premis of the story. Its very simple. The Paharaoh finds his new Bride Dead, seemingly at the hands of his son the prince, who is executed and erased from history (common custom in ancient Egypt) when he tries to enter the afterlife, he is given the task by Anubis to prove his innocence or have his soul devoured. He then has to relive the events (as a shadowy figure) that lead up to her death and his own. The song Heavens and Earth is about the feelings he had when he realized he was actually in love with the new Queen, setting off a love triangle that would eventually end in disaster. I think the song stands on its own, but certainly makes more sense with the back story www.reverbnation.com/aldiamondphillips

Check out Tomorrow by Al Diamond Phillips & Bryn L Johnson, as the eternally optomistic depressed guy, the song I've always tried to look on the bright side, and hope for whats coming next, no matter how bad I may be struggling today. somewhat of a paradox I guess. This is a Great song that hasnt gotten much attention since it was written in 2003, songs like Down, Broken & Today from that period seem to have connected better, but I do love this one, and it just makes me smile when I hear how Bryan and I worked together to create these songs. www.reverbnation.com/aldiamondphillips

Many people here have probably already heard this song, since Holymagica did the video for the song a few years back, but if you havent, Check out Down by Al Diamond Phillips & Bryan L Johnson, one of our most well received songs, it is available for the first time to purchase. This song was the first song Bryan and I wrote after we decided to stop production of the Rock Opera. Its just a good song all around. Its Heavy, and somewhat catchy, I hope everyone enjoys this song as much as I do. www.reverbnation.com/aldiamondphillips

Putting together the Sessions CD I have the album cover done, the interior note about How I met Bryan, the CD face, just have to do the back panel, and the back page of the insert, upload all the music, and bang the CD will be ready. I'm going to pack it with as much as I can get on one disc. There are still a lot of songs people havent heard yet, but I'm saving them for the disc.

Check out Curse of the Pharaoh by Al Diamond Phillips & Bryan L Johnson, I wasnt going to post anymore of these songs until I released the Sessions album (hopefully next month) but I was listening to this and I just had to throw it out there. This is the first song from the Rock Opera, Imagine the scene, The Pharaoh finds his son with his new bride the Queen, however the Queen is also Dead. So it appears that the Prince has not only committed adultry with his stepmother, but has also Murdered her. Although he clings to his innocence the Pharaoh isnt buying it, and has him killed, but not before placing a curse on his soul. This is how the whole thing starts, with a mystical journey through his memories to follow. It was really a well thought out concept, I hope it intrigues you! http://www.reverbnation.com/aldiamondphillips/song/16328766-curse-of-the-pharaoh
