I love this CD......I know there are people who think this is not the best vocal performance from Ronnie but as I recall he was unwell when the recording was done.....interestingly the DVD has a less harsh vocal mix.
However I was at the show the night before in Southampton and it was just the most awsome night. Ronnie showed no sign of the cold which he had at the Astoria the following night.
This CD is worth buying alone for the fact it has the entire Holy Diver album at its heart. I know the order isnt the same as the live show but they put all of the Holy Diver album on CD1 and the rest of the show on CD2.
Personal Fav is 'Caught in the Middle' - mainly because I love that tune! _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

I love the DVD I saw Dio that year in Norwich and he was AMAZING! I didn't know he had been unwell. I was so happy that Ronnie chose to do a "holy Diver 2," tour as I was just a toddler the first time round LOL!
I dragged my uncle with me to see Dio and even he comment on how good he was and he NEVER compliments ANYONE |

I think I remember seeing Dio saying in an interview somewhere that he had never intended it to be released as a CD as well, since the whole point was to give people as much as the concert experience as they could, with the visuals as well. I seem to recall him grumbling about the CD being the record-labels way of "making a quick buck" without actually providing something of value, since he thought the value was with the DVD-- and that the CD was kind of pointless on it's own. |

Ronnie`s cold is very evident on this album and they should have had some kind of backup in substitute shows. But they only recorded this one show for the official release, sorry but Doug live is a letdown for me. Could have and should have been much better with Craig on guitar. Simon`s drum solo is something else, his finest to date and far better than any of Vinny`s drum solos. PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee

As for the cold, it's just a super coincidence drag.
I have seen the Holy Diver live DVD and I have to say, I was very impressed over all with the production both visually and audibly. However, you can tell that the voice is not 100 percent up to par.
But this is the kind of thing, what do you do? You have a day and time and you gotta go for it! The show must go on!!!
This is an enjoyable set of live recordings, but for me they are no where NEAR AS ENCHANTING AS THE LIVE STUFF I SAW FROM RAINBOW IN THE 70s!
I am just so blown away by how good Ronnie sounded live in that band. I'd have jumped mad hoops to see that reunion. _________________ "Too many flames, with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper." - RJD |

Picked up the DVD yesterday, enjoyed seeing Tarot Woman as a surprise right off the bat. Seeing Holy Diver played live in all was amazing! I don't know what most peoples beef with Doug is, I enjoy his playing, I don't enjoy having to look at his abs though. lol Matter of fact, Ronnie has never played with a guitarist that I've seen or heard that I didn't like. Sorry don't own the cd, but once again it's on the list. lol _________________ So if a stranger sees you

| Where can I read Doug's and Ronnie's comments about this DVD/CD (as mentioned earlier in the thread)? |
