Good question, will have to think about it and get back with a good answer.

One female fronted band that comes to mind is Nightwish. Their blend of lyrics and beautiful musicianship with metal and other styles would compliment Dio's voice nicely. Don't know what Ronnie would think of it, but I would like the mix.

David Gilmour anyone? Although, I do like David's voice too, maybe as kind of like Floyd did with him and Roger splitting up verses.

Savatage, now that is a band you don't hear enough about anymore. I grew up and live in Tampa Bay area, where they started out. Used to see them in high school playing at skating rinks, later clubs. I have their "Sirens" debut album recorded here in Florida. Hated that Criss had to go so early. A real shame.

Yes, Dio would have been a good mix with the talent of Savatage, I believe. These kind of artists don't get enough credit for their writing ability/gifts. Not near enough.

RJD working with Jimmy Page would have been cool too. It would have been cool if Jake E. Lee made it in Dio too. I always loved his guitar playing.

Wow, you guys really like to beat up on Oz. I happen to like Ozzy too. I agree, that's a great tune.

Hmmm, great question.

My first thoughts were a couple of other lyricists that I really like, but two great lyricists trying to collaborate on lyrics could just as easily result in them tripping over each other as it could in a great collaboration.

So I'll try to think instead in terms of great guitarists and great bass players who are good at coming up with great riffs and great melodies. The names that pop first to mind are Cliff Burton, Randy Rhodes, Dime. But let me think about this a little more (not sure why I reflexively went for names of people who passed on; let me think who the best collaboration would be of those who made it to the 21st century).

That is a tough question because I think he wound up playing with greats who already fashioned that idea. I want him to play again with the same people. I don't imagine him with others. I imagine him with the guys from Black Sabbath or Rainbow. I imagine him always playing with Vinnie on drums.

I can't think of anyone b/c I think he played with so many greats that there's no alternate outcome in his life that we have to wonder about.

Twas destiny!
